opera 10.51 - links from external programs dont open
hey there, since i updated [also did a complete fresh install with just my wand/bookmarks backuped] to the latest release, whenever i click on a link outside of opera (while opera is not running), opera starts up with my default blank tab, but does NOT load the link, blank adress bar.
this happens if i click on any link in any other software. opera opens up as it should be, but without the page loading.
that is really tedious... any help to fix this is appreciated!
deci
I have the same issue with Pidgin 2.6.5. Running Opera 10.5.1 build 3315 on WinXP (Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) Presto/2.5.22 Version/10.51).
I click on a link and Pidgin pops a modal dialog: 'Windows cannot find 'http://xxxxxxxxx'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.
If I copy/paste the URL into Opera it opens fine.

decipher: Is this Windows XP? Are you seeing the same error message as powerchoke? I was able to reproduce this issue on my XP computer, so it looks like there is indeed a bug here somewhere.
There is a possible workaround in this thread:

Following the suggestion from that link worked. The file association had been previously assigned to Google Chrome. I added the "%1" and it opened the file but still displayed the error dialog. I next unchecked the 'DDE' box and it now works like it should.
Thanks!
Thanks!
oh sorry forgot to state system. its indeed win XP.
hmm. i did see that error message, but not always. most of the times opera just opens, without loading the clicked link (from miranda instant messenger for example).
for now i was not able to fix the problem on my system. tried the suggestions, but doesnt really changed anything.
its not a complete showstopper, been a year long opera user and still prefer it over every other browser, but yeah...
addition: when i change default browser to firefox. close everything. click on a link from a miranda IM message, firefox opens and displays the page correctly. when i change default browser back to opera, close everything. click link... opera opens, without loading the link
