Unicode rendering problem.

When visiting some sites (mostly wikipedia) Unicode-characters are shown as squares. I do not have this problem with Firefox on the same computer. Anybody have a solution?

Before posting in the wish-list forum for "Real Unicode Support" how about trying to identify the cause of your problem? There is a good chance that the wrong font is being used.

Provide a link to the Wikipedia page that shows squares (.notdef glyphs) for you. Fonts can be selected for specific languages in Preferences, Fonts, International.

One example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_alphabet

It will not render the Gothic characters in the example.

And I had fiddled for a couple of hours before I made my first posting. I had checked the Preferences, Fonts, International, without much help.

I installed the Quivira font, which supports Gothic (among other character sets), but this is still not working for me on Windows XP Home.

This article on setting up support for supplementary planes may be relevant. This is beyond my experience. Maybe someone else can help.

It would obviously help to know your OS and Opera version. It is good to put this basic info in your forum signature.

Using Opera 10.51 build 3315. My sig cannot be edited due to forum changes.
