OperaMail not receiving all messages
I have Opera 10.5 and Opera Mail. Previously I had Thunderbird, that I still keep. A number of messages received by Thunderbird are not received by OperaMail. Today I had 4 emails sent with photos on them by the same person. The 4 messages reached Thunderbird. Only two were received by OperaMail.I use Avast as antivirus and Comodo Firewall.
I would appreciate help to sort this out.
Thank you

Did you check your spam filter?
I had ticked Learn from messages added to and removed from filter. The Internal Filter is medium. I also have Spyware Terminator and Spyware Blaster.
Your suggestions will be very welcome, WildEnte. I love Opera and this is the only problem I have.
Regards
Were all 4 messages from your friend sent to the same email account? Make sure Opera checks all your email accounts, and that Thunderbird doesn't delete messages from the server after fetching them (which would make them unavailable for Opera)
In your received filter, above the email message list, there is a button labelled 'view'. Click it, and go to 'show' and make sure 'show spam' and 'show filtered' are ticked. You can revert that once you've accustomed yourself with the program a little more
You might also think about tmporarily shutting down your anti spyware and antivirus, but try the other things first

No, there were no messages in Opera's spam filter
I only have one email account and my cousin sent his four messages to the same.
Thunderbird does not automatically delete messages. I will make sure that I will not delete manually TB messages before looking at Opera messages.
Show filtered was on. Show spam was not. They are both on now.
I will ask my cousin to send me 4 photos in 4 messages and see what happens. If I miss messages in Opera I will stop the AntiSpyware programmes.
I will report here what happens. Thank you very much for your help WildEnte. Please let me know if you had further suggestions.
In Opera, go to help->about opera to find your email directory. In your antivirus software, make sure this directory is excluded from placing files into quarantine (or even scanning).
Opera CANNOT execute any attachments by itself. If you don't actively start a malicious attachment, you have nothing to worry about even if your antivirus doesn't look in opera's mail directory

If this problem occurs only with emails that have attachments, this points towards a virus scanner blocking the relevant file for Opera.

I have done all you have recommended including the antivirus bit but still missing messages that reach Thunderbird. What else can one do other than going back to Thunderbird?

EDIT: try turning off the antivirus software entirely for a while... Rumor has it that Avast can cause problems.

If you don't download and execute funky files, you are pretty safe without a virus scanner, so having it off for a couple of minutes won't hurt you

Since Opera Mail works a bit different than e.g. Thunderbird, it's good to take a quick look at the mail tutorial before you start creating lots of unnecessary folders and the like: http://www.opera.com/browser/tutorials/mail/ (just as a remark, I don't use any filters/folders at all, Opera's fast full text search capabilities are totally sufficient)
