Opera 10.51 in Windows XP 2 issues
Hello, the last time I use Opera when it was in Version 8.5. After Opera 9.5 released I didn't used it anymore, because it was an ugly skin.
Now I use Opera Portable and it don't looks bad, but there are 2 issues which are very sad. And this 2 issues are the reason for me to not using Opera. I am running Windows XP and I'll stay to it as longs as would.
issue 1.) When I have opened a window and it is maximized, I usually click fast to the right top to end or close that program or window. But in Opera I can't do this, because I have to move the mouse a bit to left to the X button. That really is bad. Try it, open a usually window in Windows XP and maximize it and move the mouse to the right top in the corner. It will close if you click. Now open Opera and do the same, it won't work! Very, very bad.
issue 2.) Opera was very beautiful in Version 8.5 and after all the time Opera gets uglier and more uglier all the time till now. I don't like Aero Glass in Windows Vista or Windows 7. But in Opera 10.50, the Opera skin was sweet. Now in Opera 10.51, the Opera skin color is ugly again. Please change it back!
Sorry for my bad English.
To understand what I mean, I put pictures in the attachment.
Tanks a lot.

Get a life. This is trivial. Show the title bar by using the Windows native skin, or showing the menu bar or main bar or personal bar. Change the skin if you don't like it.

I thought politeness counted in this forum.
Must you alway be so condescending?
. There is no skin which is interesting to me, because every skin for 10.51 is based on Aero and Glass. Everyone which is not, is more ugly for me than Operas skin. I would like to use the skin which looks like Opera 8.5 but it don't works with Opera 10.51. And I am not a developer or skin creator. Thanks for answer

Only when people complain about nothing. Clicking the close button is not exactly the most time-consuming thing one has to do every day. Show the title bar if you want to have the old windows close button behaviour.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder — suit yourself which skin you use, and if there's not one you like, learn to edit skins. These are both trivial issues. Users should ask politely if there is a way to fix or change the skin instead of moaning about it. Imagine how you would feel as the skin designer who spent weeks designing the standard skin and listening to feedback on the forums, then some dude who cannot be bothered to learn how to edit skins or make his own says something like this:

Rudeness like this deserves a rebuke — if anyone finds my reply condescending, then try reading the first post again.

I thought a forum is for help, but this here is for me not help. Opera want to have more users, and when they really want to then they have to listen to the users. I decided to wait for testing Opera 11, I will not use Opera 10 till then.
I don't want have a browser which I can't personalize it to my own. Don't say you can. I can't! I even can't put the personalbar where my Bookmarks are under the adressbar. This really is bad. I often use the X button to close my webbrowser, because I don't like it that is still running in background when I am not using it. It has to be comfortable to me, and Opera is NOT when they stay in this way. So, one more users less.
Thank you.

That's right. Its a user2user forum for getting help from other users — not a place to complain to them or Opera staff about what you don't like. I understand that English is not your first language, but just read again what you wrote:

This is a very bad attitude when what you want is help from other users to configure the browser how you want. We can tell you what is possible, and what is not. Help you to find a different skin, etc. What we cannot do is rewrite the program for you.
- First show the menu bar
- Then show the main bar
- Drag the URL field to the main bar holding shift when dropping it
- Drag the browsing buttons to the main bar
- Turn off the address bar
- Turn on the personal bar
Now you have the windows title bar with the close button, and the usual behaviour. The personal bar is below the address, and most of your problems are resolved.

I just write down what does disturb me on Opera. Opera wants more users, and I don't know where I can write my Feedbacks directly to Opera so I do here. This way is even good for that you can see what does disturbs me and you can maybe help.
This with the skin is just because it just makes me angry to see that Opera wants more users and cries and beat the Internet Explorer in Europe for browserchoice but gets uglier and uglier. Of course, the way it looks is for everyone else different but everyone I asked say that Opera is "shi*" and ugly. Sorry for that but I just qouted.
Whatever
Thank you for help but I wait for Opera 11 which I can test. I only use Opera Mini for my MobilephoneOriginally posted by J3553Horstman:
I'm pretty sure that he has made some custom skins and such so he obviously is just as concerned about how Opera looks as you are.
That's the right thing to do if you want to change something. We have the tools to customise Opera to our personal preferences so complaining about the skin being ugly is just plain rude.

Pesala hit the nail on the head here, especially with what I put in bold and italics in his quote. Developers develop for EVERYONE as a whole. Not for individuals. There was a MUCH better way for you to go about your original post. Maybe something along the lines of:
"Hi. I was wondering if maybe there was a way to change the skin of Opera. I liked the last version, but this version is not exactly what I like."
This is a much better way of saying that you don't like this current skin.
As for the close button, "very very bad"......really?! You're complaining about having to move your mouse 1 or 2 millimeters to the left? Wow.

You completely missed the point. If the request was posted politely whether here or in the right place — the Customising Opera forum — or in the wish-list, it would not have been badly received. There are thousands of support requests posted on these forums, and hundreds of long term users helping people resolve these issues. Someone helped me resolve my own very similar issue in this thread: Making Tabs Fit Fitt's Law
I don't think it is better to give no reply. Rude users then bump their threads, and complain that the forum is useless. It is best to explain how to post in the right way so that they get the help that they want. Read what it says in the Rules on Signup. Everyone sees this page on joining the forum. If they don't read it, then we need to remind them to read it again.
By following the rules and guidelines, you will increase your chances of getting a useful response by making it easier for other people to help you, and you will make it easier for others to search for information later.
As for your other comments:

Rather than trying to copy other browsers the developers should listen to the useful part of their users requests and benevolently ignore whatever might be construed as rude.
They followed what many users requested — to hide the title bar, and make the interface more Chrome like, maximising the workspace (useful for Netbooks which are increasingly popular) by turning off the menu bar. All you're saying, in effect, is that you think your opinion is more important than anyone elses. I would consider your comments about the developers not knowing what they are doing now as being rude. I hope they will ignore them, and get on with doing what they have always done.

I wouldn't class it as trivial though, after basic functionality it's the next most important thing to your average user. If the developers want Opera to be really successful, they should get a graphic designer to make them a half decent skin, I don't think that would interfere with them fixing all the bugs, it could be done separately.
