v.10.51, Can no longer <right-click> and open new tab in background
I skipped v.10.50 and upgraded directly from v.10.10.I can no longer <right-click> on a link and execute "Open in Background Tab." When I do, nothing happens.
<right-click> and "Open in New Tab" works, but to open a link in a background tab, I have to resort to <ctrl+shift+click>.
Very annoying. Any ideas?
I forgot to "subscribe" to this topic, and almost forgot I had posted!
I've narrowed down the problem to something bizarre: On a couple forums (discussion boards) I follow, <right-clicking> on the small icon/graphic that indicates unread messages doesn't work if I choose "Open in Background Tab" *or* "Open in New Tab. Only when I <ctrl+shift+click> or <shift+click>.
I just noticed that it *also* happens if clicking from a link that's a graphic image on a Google Search page!
e.g. http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=opera+browser&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 and the bottom item is a YouTube video. Can't <right-click> and get any of the options to work. I *can* <shift+click> and it opens in a new tab.
e.g. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/ I cannot <right-click> any graphic on the page and open it in a new tab. <shift> clicking does.
And I did un- and re-install Opera.

I'm using mouse gesture for that or middle click. So i do not have that much experience with right click on link. But it works for me at the moment 10.52 (3344)
Here's another random page where I cannot <right-click> on a link that's a graphic, while I can <shift-click> or <ctrl+shift+click> to open a new tab.
Note: Any *text* link works with a <right-click> just not a link that's a *graphic image*...

No, nothing happens when I choose any option from the <right-click> menu from the little envelope icon below your avatar.
Again, however, I can <shift+click> or <ctrl+chift+click> and a new tab springs up.
What is a "customized menu setup"?

In Preferences, Toolbars, Menu Setup if more than one menu setup is listed besides "Opera Standard" then you may be using a customised menu setup.

I had two options: "Opera Standard" and "standard_toolbar" with the latter selected.
I changed it to "Opera Standard," closed Opera, re-opened Opera and in addition to getting a left-hand panel which is not as useful as before <g>, I see no difference in <right-click> action, i.e. it still doesn't work.

I had the same problem and I had a customized menu setup. When I changed it to standard, it "solved" the problem.
Now, how do I use my custom menu without having this really annoying bug?
Btw, you forgot to say it was in the advanced tab. It's in settings, preferences(or do ctrl+f12), goto advance tab, select toolbars on the left, in the bottom part of the window, you have menu setup and you need to select "Opera standard".
Opera just keep getting worst and worst at every update, I still have 9.xx on my other computer and I don't want to update because v10 has so much problems compared to v9. I don't know if it's still true in v10.5+ but I couldn't leave it open for more than a day or 2 because it hate so much ram that it becomes unusable, and now the widgets are gone from the Widgets menu for some reason, I have to get them from the start menu or from the panels that I hate to use because I don't have a widescreen resolution and it eats too much space.
The only thing I like since v10 is the ability to change the layout of the speed dial.

MAIN PC: 12.16 -> i7-2600k, 16GB RAM, Win 7 x64
HTPC: 15.0.1147.153 -> A10-6700, 8GB RAM, win 7 x64
I just keep getting more depressed every time I update opera. Very old bugs not fixed, easy fix not made(talking about no option to disable image resize here), new "features" even more annoying than the last ones implemented and often poor compatibility with a lot of website.

Oops. You're right. That was the "Toolbar setup" section. In the "Menu setup" section, I only have Opera Standard, and of course, it is selected.
Since there seems to be no solution to my problem, I've been happily experimenting with using Chrome and Firefox. While neither of them seems "comfortable" yet, I'm sure I can adapt.
It is really frustrating that something got broken on my way to Opera v.10.51. I alternate between my notebook, where I still have v.10.10, and my desktop computer with v.10.51, and when I return to my "upgraded" desktop, it is disruptive to have to change my years-old pattern of reading message boards: When I open an index of threads in a forum, I usually <right-click> on the threads I want to read in each forum section and let the threads open in the background while I continue scrolling the thread lists in various forum sections, and when I finally go to read the various threads I find not a single one has opened a new tab. So I have to go back, and do it all over again.

IIRC some parameters got added/changed..What a weird solution. But this just means that Custom menus are broken?
Check [Image Link Popup Menu] and [Link Popup Menu] - things should look like this now. (Notice the -2 and "URLInfo")
Item, M_BOOKM_ITEM_POPUP_MENU_OPEN = Open link , -2, "urlinfo" Item, MI_IDM_MENU_PAGEBAR_LINK_IN_NEW_PAGE = Open link in new page , -2, "urlinfo" Item, MI_IDM_MENU_PAGEBAR_LINK_IN_BG_PAGE = Open link in background page , -2, "urlinfo" Item, "Open in Private Tab" = Copy link , -2 , "urlinfo" ,, "New private page menu" & New private page, -2 , "urlinfo" & Focus address field & Paste & Go
Same with image properties, example:
Item, MI_IDM_COPY_FIG_ADDRESS = Copy image address , -2 , "urlinfo" ,, "New bookmark" Item, M_DOCUMENT_BACKGROUND_MENU_COPY_TO_CLIPBOARD = Copy image , -2 , "urlinfo" ,, "New note" Item, MI_IDM_SHOW_FIGURE_PROPERTIES = Show image properties , -2 , "urlinfo" ,, "Edit properties"
I remember spending quite some time upgrading my menus and toolbars when I made the jump from 10.10 to 10.5x.
This is the closest thing to my problem, so I'm going to add on here, and if anyone suggests a bug report I'll move over there. I am using O10.6 and am having problem with <right click>, open in new tab (or whatever the equivalent is called again). Normally, I would <right click>, <e> to do this, but for some reason this only works on a text-based link. If I try it on an image link (that links to the exact same place), nothing happens.
For further information:
Win7
no specific link or feed, but I use the feed messages to view images from Sankaku Complex mainly.
Like I said before, it works fine on text links, but if i try it by doing it on a graphic with a link, nothing happens.

Misery loves company, so welcome. :-)
I just did a fresh re-install of Windows, and did a clean install of Opera 10.60, and the right-click-on-graphics-links problem did not occur, until I restored my old backed-up Opera settings from the old C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera to the new installation, so it's some setting that probably got tweaked in some *.ini file in the past with a previous Opera version, but I'll be darned if I can find it...

If you're talking about the same issue as driderknight, his question was answered in this post.
The image link context menu has changed, so the access keys (which are assigned automatically in strict alphabetical order) have also changed.
