news feed files

I can't seem to find this in the help files:

Can anyone tell me how Opera handles news feed files once they've gone past the specified View period. eg. if you set a feed to 1 week, are files older than that then deleted from the hard drive or only removed from the "visible" index.

I know from experiment that deleting a news feed completely will cause Opera to delete all the associated feed files but it doesn't seem to delete over-date files where a feed is kept in existence. Is there a way to force Opera to flush overdate files? I've got over 20,000 of them on my drive now and it's slowing Opera noticeably at startup and shutdown, plus in-use delays.

If a file flush can be induced, will those files with a label attached, especially the "valuable" or "important" labels be preserved even if over-date? This would be a desirable feature.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I noticed that when i delete a news in the feed it lands in the garbage of Operas Mail-Client (that place where also deleted mails end before you delete them forever). Maybe you can look there if the old feeds ended up there. No idea how Opera handles the over-dated ones.
