Have some questions relating to Opera Mini (soon to be Android user)?
hi guys,I have never owned a smartphone and wish to purchase my first smartphone within the next few months.
Could any of you that have Opera Mini on Android, particularly a powerful Android device like Nexus One, confirm some things for me?
I would like to know these things:
1. What are the shortcomings of Opera Mini when compared to Opera Mobile?

2. Does Android use file associations (like on Windows)? Can I optionally set Opera Mini to open all html, xml etc files in Opera Mini in Android?
3. Is multi-touch (pinch zooming) supported?
4. Important question: Is the opening/displaying of MHT web archives supported on Opera Mini (mht web pages saved from desktop Opera)?
5. Important question: What is the speed like? Can I disable turbo (compressing websites)?

Opera Mini doesn't handle pages locally. Everything is done on a server.

Google is your friend.

See question 2. It can't open local files because the page handling is done on a server. Did you actually follow the links?
Actually, Mr Attitude, one of the links you posted supplies this information:
"Opera Mini now lets you save full Web pages so you can view them off-line, if your cell phone has no signal."
So, the answer is maybe. Mini will open some files stored in the filesystem. They are probably stored in the special compressed archive, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Mini can't open other standard file formats. I can't install it on my phone so have no experience; can only offer you this little bit of encouragement.

The only files Opera Mini can only locally are obml-files and you can only produce them by downloading web pages through the Opera servers.

I also tested downloading a mht-file and Opera offered to save it, just like most other file types.
