opera 10.50-10.51 are very slow on some comps

Hello!
It's a strange situation, my favorite browser becomes extremely slow on some computers!
On my home and work comps it's ok.
But on some other comps of my colleagues it became very slow after upgrade to new versions.
You enter some web address and Opera begins connecting, in the status bar there's something like "waiting for thread #3", "waiting for thread #2" or so.
And this lasts for up to ten!!! minutes.
Then finally after that it loads the page quickly.
WTF?

Can't understand the principle.
On some comps it works fine, on the other works fine with some pages, but bad with other, on some comps it works bad almost on all pages.
I tried to delete Opera, delete all user profile files concern to Opera and make clean install - never mind!
Only installing version prior to 10.10 inclusively helps.

Moreover, these new Opera versions don't work on some sites on all comps!
As an example try to download DrWeb antivirus by it:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/windows/drweb-600-win-x86.exe

It's just the innocent ftp link!
sad

I got the same problem on my laptop.
Opera becomes extremely slow when browsing web pages.
I usually open the several links on new tabs at the same time.
Opera sometimes stops download the web pages (all tabs) and then suddenly it quickly complete the downloading for all web pages.
It seems waiting for some event in order to proceed the download web pages.

After I upgraded to 10.51, one of my favorite web site can not be browsed.

So did you search the forum before posting? There are lots of possible solutions, from using HTTP 1.1 for proxies, to nuking all your cookies.

Firefox reported that a script is not completing, then crashed when I tried to continue.

If I disable javascript, Opera 10.51 loads the page OK.

Opera 10.1 loads the page OK with javascript enabled.

SWR Iron also fails to load the page .

IE asks me to load a language pack for Chinese traditional — then loads the page if I ignore the dialogue, but the page looks nothing like it does in Opera, which shows the Chinese font apparently OK.

It may be possible that you are experiencing hanging as Opera tries to load an element. There is quite a bit of discussion of this issue. It's often a javascript and often the solution is to cancel the page load and then reload it. The previously retrieved content will load form cache and usually the element that caused the hang will now load fine. Give that a try to see if this seems to be the case for you. The problem can be intermittent or it can be fairly consistent depending on what website you're browsing.

There has been some work towards fixing this in 10.5. Check out the Beta forum to see some of that conversation.

I have Opera remember and re-use my last session. I might have 15 pages open when closing/opening the browser. On one machine, when upgrading to 10.50 the entire browser turned into one giant slug. I could never right-click anything, and only use keyboard shortcuts for some navigation or I had to wait 3-5 minutes for a dialogue or failure to appear and I could try the next move.

I closed most of the pages and nuked the entire Opera cache. I also changed the cookie acceptance to all temporarily.
Finally got everything running normally. I suspect some bad iframes on some of those open pages were keeping things busy or maybe an infected page. I didn't see that same problem on other machines with the same OS and version of Opera.

Eventually all went back to normal. I hope your prob gets resolved.

Hello!
Just have some new facts about this bug.
All stated above in my first post happens when browser works through our corporate proxy server.
If let that machine go to Internet without proxy - it seams to work fine.
And this is not a proxy's problem.
Old Opera versions and other browsers work fine through it.

So, the situation is:
1) you are using proxy server
2) you go to some web page, where there are many banners, graphics and text
3) some banners load slowly, so you can't wait any more and click on some link on this page by third button to open it in another tab or just open another tab and go to some page in it
4) in the first tab incomplete page still exists and while it is waiting to load all it's banners other tabs don't load their pages at all!!! Just "waiting #3", "waiting #2" in status bar.

I guess latest Opera versions work with proxy very bad.
Something is broken.

It seams like new beta Opera 10.52 solved the issue.

Yes, thanks. I've also found the root cause. Why doesn't Opera 10.5 have the issue? Quite strange...
