slowing down bookmark expansion
is there a way to slow down the bookmarks time before expanding an entry during mouseovers?mine expand very quickly and cover my listing i am trying to scroll down.
i would like to change it to wait at least 1 or 2 seconds maybe even 3.
its annoying after being used to firefox's scrolling lists

I think it is a Windows registry setting that controls this: MenuShowDelay
It will affect all other programs too, so increasing it could be a right pain. Most users want to reduce it from the default 400 milliseconds.

forgot to mention i'm using linux... no i don't want to change the global settings, only within opera... they should give you a config option to use scrolling bookmarks or expanding bookmarks.. i really do not care at all for the expanding ones because if it hits a folder that has a large number of bookmarks in it the resulting window opening up is huge and covers everything.. its probably the only truly annoying thing about opera.

Put this basic info in your Forum Signature. Then you don't have to remember to mention it. Unfortunately, I have to remember if its relevant to the thread, due to the sig now being limited to 400 characters.
Using Opera 10.51 build 3315. My sig cannot be edited due to forum changes.
If I have a folder with too many bookmarks, there is a more… item at the bottom of the menu. I don't see any option for changing that behaviour. Maybe its different on Linux. The answer, of course, is to keep your bookmarks organised neatly into folders.

good idea for the sig..
i have 'more options' at the bottom and sometimes that one is huge but by the time i have selected the primary folder and any secondaries, covering the list at that point is not an issue.. the problem is the initial display. i go to the folder i want to look thru, then i go down the list that expands from that. all well and good except that the folders under that subfolder have sometimes 400 or more additional subfolders and bookmarks in them and as i am scrolling the mouse down to the correct folder i want to look through, it opens others on the way which many cover my list of interest and i have to move the mouse off the area completely and start over again. i have an extremely large bookmarks system (several thousand and those are only important things needing to keep.. my initial bookmarks folder of 'master topics' is i think a little over 100 folders) and autoexpansion without clicking first or a long delay makes navigation thru my bookmarks impossible. konqueror is the same way and it is annoying as anything.. firefox's scrolling lists is the most elegant answer for large lists such as mine.. would be nice if someone would write something compatible with opera... even a separate widgit or something to use in place of default bookmarks menus... or even better if they would add scrolling lists as an option or allow selecting double click actions only in bookmarks to open, single click to select which would also cure my problem since it would disable the auto-expand feature.
the only way i have been able to work with this (i discovered this method after my original post)is to display the bookmarks in a side bar selected from a panel and once i find what i am looking for close the bookmarks as its loading which maybe it is not but it seems like 'extra steps'

dont get me wrong, auto expand is a nice option for a small number of bookmarks but when the list gets too big it gets messy.
