!0.x problems with upgrade from 9.x

Here are the problems that I have been having from an upgrade from 9.10 to 10.x:

1) You try to open a tab in a "background tab" or "new tab" it does nothing. Never launches anything, ever.

2) The problem that everyone complains about...the design flaws. Sorry, I've been using Opera since 3.62 and the "new and improved" interface needs to be addressed to make it back to previous versions.

3) Backward compatibility to older skins. Granted, I doubt any version did it well. But, when you go to look at changing any settings and you either get a complete black screen OR it is too blurry to read gets rather annoying.

4) Not allowing opening Opera without any pages. I know this got killed in version 9.x and why I install 9.01 and go from there.

5) Not allowing to install for all users under one ID and burying the folder structure on XP under "Application Data\Opera\Opera" (both reasons to install 9.01 and upgrade from there). What type of non-sense is that? Did they take a page from murky$oft's vista directory structure or what?

NOTE: Until these issues are fixed, I won't be upgrading any time soon. Also, with any of the upgrades, copy your folder structure somewhere else so you can copy back if needed.

Improvement:

1) Speed Dial - I know some people love it, I hate it and generally disable it right away via "about:config". However, with the 10.x versions, you have to modify the .ini file and then click on the "hide speed dial". Which, in all honesty, is a much better thing to do. IF you figure out how to do it.

Does it happen with factory settings?

CTRL+F12 > Advanced > Tabs > Additional tab options... > Allow window with no tabs

Use classic installer and enable use the same profile for all users on this computer during installation or change Multi User=1 to Multi User=0 in C:\Program Files\Opera\operaprefs_default.ini

What you are modifying in configuration file?

I did an upgrade to 10.51 from Opera 9.10 (that was upgraded from 9.01). This also occured while upgrading to 10.50 as well (and I went back to 9.10). I have not performed a fresh install of 10.x though. It maybe a confliction of something in the version 9.x I am using while upgrading to 10.x.

Basically, I deleted all the lines in the speeddial.ini file that were not part of the header. NOTE: The header looks kinda like this:

Opera Preferences version 2.1
; Do not edit this file while Opera is running
; This file is stored in UTF-8 encoding

NOTE: Did the same thing for disabling google in version 9.x when it did not let you easily remove google from the search engine area. BTW, that is another bonus of 10.51.

THANK YOU for the other info. Time to store information to where I can easily find it as needed.
