Disable opera:illegal-url

When a URL contains a space or comma or etc. the Opera shows opera:illegal-url-XXX instead of the real URL in the status bar. If I open the source of site I find the real URL, but this circumstantial and very annoying.

It would be great to be able to disable this "feature". smile

Although I would call this a bug-fix request, not a feature request - this "feature" certainly has no use that I can think of...

Stating it is so is different to explaining it - do you know what kind of phishing attack could be used with if this bug were fixed?

Let opera simply escape these characters then (%20 for e.g as space-bar ). Then in that case opera can then follow it then tell the user that its invalid or not. +1

Or instead replace the title tooltip part with a warning so at least the address is still copiable.

There's no reason that the URL that we just typed shouldn't continue to be shown to us in the title bar. It's insane to have us retype an entire URL when we mistype it.

The warning is fine by me, but +1 for retaining the typed in URL in the address bar.

How does keeping us from seeing and fixing the URL we just typed prevent any security threat, let alone phishing attacks? I would think that showing us the invalid URL that we had just attempted to view would make things safer by letting us see what URL to avoid entering in the future.

Another thing is to not add the wrong URL to our history list. If it's the wrong the URL, then we don't want it, anymore.

If I type in "go ogle.c", then I'd rather see something like this.

You typed in an illegal URL. Did you mean any of these?
  • google.com
  • google.ca

Phishing attack or not, it's up to the user to decide.
A warning yes, but seeing the real url in the adress bar doesn't make it more dangerous.

Someone forget a comma on a forum and it's opera:illegal-url, example :

http://www.opera.com,

You have to come back, select the URL copy-paste it in the adress bar and remove the comma.
And if the URL was shortened, you can't copy it, or you have to view the source.

It's annoying.

If the user set for example set as text opera and put a link behind it like this: opera. It's even worse, you'll have to view the source...
