Updated Lite Menu for Opera Unite
I have just updated my Opera Unite Menu for Opera 10.51. To try it out, save the linked configuration file to your \profile\menu\ folder. The location of your profile can be found in Help, About Opera. If you don't already have a customised menu, the \menu\ folder will not yet exist in your \profile\ folder. Either create the folder manually, or go to Tools, Preferences, Toolbars, Menu Setup, and duplicate the standard menu. That will create the folder and a copy of the standard menu named standard_menu (1).ini which you can edit without fear of destroying the default menu. After saving the file, my menu setup can be selected in Preferences, Toolbars, menu setup.
The aim of my Unite menu was to provide quick access to the most used items, while hiding some more advanced items from new users.
Some Key Features
- The Browser Button Menu (the big O dropdown menu) now shows the main menus, plus the menu access points. Users can access their mail without opening the panels.
- The Edit Widget Menu includes a vBcode menu for formatting text on forums
- The Mouse Gesture Menu can be accessed by adding a mouse gesture with the action: Show popup menu, "Mouse Gesture Menu". This gives quick access to the currently open windows, and to recently closed windows.
- The menu includes some items to launch popular freeware like IrfanView or OpenOffice. You may get an error if they are not installed in the default location.
- The menu includes an item on the Utilties menu to edit the menu
- The menu includes an item on the Help menu to check for updates.

I found another way to improve the button menu. By turning off the page bar head toolbar, and adding a menu button to the address bar, I can now set the tab bar to "Show only when needed" to save one extra toolbar row if only one tab is open.
By adding this O-menu button to the address bar with "Show hidden popup menu" the button is shown without the drop arrow, and by using a custom button I could add a second command to the button — exit in my case, so that I can still close Opera using the mouse, if the tab bar and the close button is hidden.
