Disabling a Bookmark Popup Menu Item

Hi,

I'm using Opera 10.10 (Build 4742).

There is a bookmarks popup menu option I'd like to disable.

Specifically, when I select a bookmarks folder, then select a bookmark using the secondary mouse button (right-click for most people) rather than directly select the bookmark, a popup menu appears.

The popup menu shows the following items:

Open
Open in Background Tab
-----------
Open in Background Window
-----------
Properties

I'd like to disable the last three menu items. I've done quite a bit of customizing the menus so I know my way around okay, but I cannot find any reference to this particular popup menu.

I appreciate any help.

Thanks.

As far as I can tell, both bookmarks and folders use the same menu section:

Linux? Windows never shows that menu - in 10.10 that's the menu you get if you right-click on a bookmark in the Bookmarks menu. Being as I'm currently in Windows, I can't answer the question ...

I assumed that the OP is talking about the Bookmarks Panel — that's where the righ-click menus do appear.

The [Bookmark Item Popup Menu] menu section is associated with the Manage Bookmarks option/panel. I already have everything in that menu section commented out.

Linux?

Yes. smile

I am referring to the actual bookmarks, not the panel. As I shared in my first response in this post, I already have that menu section disabled.

I started fresh with a new ~/.opera directory and new menu.ini. I then commented out all instances of any "Edit Properties" menu items. That particular option in the popup menu remained. All I can think at this moment is that particular popup menu is hard-coded.

I am creating a web browsing machine, but not a true or strict kiosk. That menu section is the last remnant I want to disable to ensure users cannot modify bookmarks. I could write a wrapper script to ensure modifications are only temporary, but removing the popup menu is the more appropriate solution.

We no longer have that menu in 10.5x for Linux (which I'm helping test), I'll have to get an old version to see if it has a listing ...

I wonder if the popup menu simply is not listed in the default menu.ini file but nonetheless exists and has a name.

Interestingly, setting the Allow Context Menus option to False does not disable this particular popup menu.
