10.51 crashes on start if more than one window used
Hi there,I just upgraded from 9.6x to 10.51 - downloaded setup.exe and chose upgrade into same directory. I'm used to work with several opera windows each with several tabs. And I close opera with exit to get them all back the next day. This had been no problem with all the 9.x versions I had. I saved a session just before the upgrade, containing 6 windows each with ~10 tabs.
Since the upgrade to 10.51 my opera keeps crashing on startup without an error message. I can watch it open the windows (they get shown in taskbar) and then (after maybe one second) they all disappear and opera is gone from task list.
If I choose "start with speed-dial" on startup opera starts normally. If I then open some tabs in this one window I can exit and restart without problems, the tabs get restored.
If I open another window (having two open now) and having some tabs in both it keeps crashing on startup after exit.
I'm using Windows XP with all fixes, there are 2 GB RAM installed and no other apps running, there is more than 1 GB free space on both drives C and D where opera is installed / mail data and other settings to backup are stored. And there had been no crash problems with 9.6x all the time.
Any hints what else to check / which setting to set?
Btw, is it normal that for example the highlighted but not focused mail folder looks slightly pink now? I use XP with "XP style blue (default)" and opera default skin, and somehow some elements inside opera look a little pink now...
Edit: If I have 10.51 started already and click then on "Tabs and Windows > Sessions > Session name" it does load all 6 additional windows with all tabs without problems. So the problem seems to have something to do with opera starting up, and not with one of the tabs...

Jochen

Not even 40 views and no response in 3 days, omg.
Just for the records:
After some hours of try and error I figured out that it has something to do with the bookmarks file. If I remove it then 10.51 can start up with multiple windows and tabs again. Strange enough, neither did that 9.64 nor do I want to loose my bookmarks.
Unfortunatelly I noticed that 10.51 did corrupt my mail storage as well. It tends to count more emails than I have (in the header of a folder pane, where it reads "... total") but actually lists not all I have. Most easy to spot with labels: I marked 29 mails as "important" in 9.64. In 10.51 it still titels "29 total" but lists only a few, not even half of those 29. Investigating this a little closer I found that this happend to all folders/views.
Reindexing did not work - mostly because this still isn't officially supported so one has to try and error things out.
Reporting bugs to Opera software seems kind of useless (unless it's a real critical or heavy bug, in which case it probably has already been reported) and I never got any response nor my tiny little things fixed. So I saved my time - worse enough that I spend nearly 8 hours on this already. I finally uninstalled 10.51 and reinstalled 9.64 and got my mail and bookmark data back from backup.
[Hey, Opera. Wake up! It's not enough to be innovative, you need to make upgrades work in any allowed setup. I mean I didn't fool around with your config files, just used your opera:config tool. And if you need to introduce new pref.ini files shouldn't you remove the old ones during update? That has been the fifth(!) time I see things going corrupt during an update...]
