URLs sent in emails do not become highlighted or open/link to websites. Stumped.

I downloaded Opera 10.51 yesterday. So far, I like it. My operating system is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

I use Yahoo mail. I access Yahoo by opening an Opera browser window and typing "Yahoo.com." Then I Sign In to Yahoo with my Yahoo User Name and Password and access my mail. (To clarify, I don't access Yahoo from a Yahoo program application because I don't want the Yahoo program files on my computer's drive). This works perfectly well in all web browsers (including Opera 10.51).

However, there is one problem. When I access my Yahoo mail from an Opera browser and send an email containing a URL (for example: Opera.com), the URL link does not become 'active'. That is, the URL does not become highlighted or open/link to the website. Also, the URL does not become highlighted or open/link to the website for the receiver of my email. Every web browser performs this task perfectly on my computer, except Opera.

I've 'Googled' and searched this forum for a solution but, so far, haven't found one. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Not that familiar with Yahoo's webmail, but I know in the forums here you have to include the protocol (the "http://" part). See the difference between www.opera.com and http://www.opera.com for example?

sgunhouse,

Thanks for your reply. I'm still working on this! lol

It appears the problem might be specific to Yahoo mail (in combination with Windows 7 and a web browser other than Internet Explorer). I finally uninstalled Opera 10.51 and downloaded Firefox 3.6 to see if that made a difference. With Firefox, URL links sent from gmail will open in Yahoo mail, but URL links sent from Yahoo mail will not open in Yahoo mail. And URL links sent from gmail will open in gmail. So, the origin of the email (in this case, Yahoo or gmail) determines if the link opens properly.

But now that I've uninstalled Opera, I can't recall if the results with Opera were identical to those of Firefox. lol I believe, in Opera, the URLs did not open in any combination of sender/recipient - Not certain of that though. Now that I see the pattern, I'll need to re-install Opera to find out!

Thanks again.
