Opera 10.51 - missing minimize/maximize/cascading buttons - need to find another browser

Hi! I miss the minimize/maximize-buttons at the upper right windows corner.
There is no way to manually arange mulitple windows any more.
How may I compare two windows??
How can I have youtube in one window and writing blogs in another?

I loved opera because of it's unique features for years.

Now there is need to find another browser...
Any sugestions?

Well, to expand on Pesalas somewhat, um, minimalistic reply, if you;
Right click -> Customize -> Appearance and enable the Main Bar, you will once again have direct access to the layout options we all know and love.

I hope this helps.

What's the point when other browsers have even fewer options for this kind of stuff?

By the way, right-click the tab bar, arrange, tile.

march and prd, thanks a lot! Still miss the upper right buttons but it works.

Why ist there such new trend to omit control buttons directly linked to a single window?
  • Is multi-window usage 'out' since Ipad's touch screen doesn't support that stuff?
  • or is microsoft not longer supporting windows based programming? Next release after 'Windows 7' might be called 'Singlescreen 8'
  • Easy desktop for easy users?

I have the same problem, never liked the close button on each tab. But now there is no option in my Opera 10.51. Even if I enable the mainbar those buttons don't show up. sad

Any other suggestions on how to get them to appear or is it an error in the program?

CTRL + W will close the tab that has the focus, you don't necessarily need a button.

It's my understanding that the MDI functionality comes from Windows itself. I think that the Opera dev team may be planning for what might happen if this functionality is dropped or changed.

Thanks for all contributions.

I remember a time in the 90's, when a device called mouse pointer was introduced. There was no longer any need for secret keyboard-combinations while using Windows Word 5.0 or the Unix 'vi' editor.

And now? Back to the roots, Opera is oldschool: Press F1 for help, Press ctrl-F4 to close, press anykey for x.

Opera seems not longer ready for its ageing users. It's Usage demands an advanced expert knowledge instead and does not longer offer an intuitive screen surface.

Personally, I prefer to use 'modern' inventions as my mouse-device with 'modern' browsers. Oldschool might be fashion but oldschool is not always enhanced productivity.

For me, Opera provides no longer any added value and looks all the same as firefox now yet not everything is compatible.
I decided finally to switch over to firefox.

Press F1 for help is standard in all programs not just Opera.
If you need to find help in firefox guess what key you will need to press?
