Opera behavior with wheel mouse displeasing

I'm just getting familiar with Opera. I have version 10.10 installed with Ubuntu 9.10 and version 10.50 installed with Windows 7. Both installations are on the same computer. The mouse I use on this computer is a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000, with a tilt wheel.

On most applications, the tilt wheel can be used for horizontal scrolling. With Opera, it doesn't work the same way. Suppose I open a web page in a new tab and then proceed to another page on the site, where the horizontal scroll bar appears due to the page being wider than the window size. The scroll bar will initially be to the left. I can use the tilt wheel to scroll the page to bring the right side into view; this is normally how most apps respond to the tilt wheel. Now, here's where the abnormal behavior occurs. If I press the tilt wheel to scroll back to the left, instead of scrolling, the browser goes back to the previous page. In other words, the tilt wheel functions as a back button in this case.

Are there any preference settings in Opera to make it respond to a mouse tilt wheel the same way as other applications, which, again, is to just scroll right and left?
