self distruct key shortcuts are bad feelings generators

Hello...

Please take in consideration adding a sign somewhere that you activated involuntary a different "page style" so people will not switch browser, or die trying to find out what happen with their favorite site. Or remove the default shortcuts to that.

I was posting on one of my favorite forums and because I am not a "blind typer" (although I can type "blind" if I want to test myslef) I found out that the forum "exploded"... clearly after I pressed some keys while thinking the cursor was in the posting zone and it wasn't.

I lost what I was saying... I had to close few times Opera... clear all cookies from that forum... nothing worked beside clicking "fit to width"... although zoom was OK.

After minutes of dispair I found that the page style had now selected besides "author mode"... "fixed table layout"...

Please think at usual (so I will not say "normal" which can be interpreted) users of Opera... they don't switch layouts like crazy... and they get lost when such a definitive change occures without them knowing exactly how it happen.

bad feelings don't help opera... I am a hooked fan but someone else... smile

There aren't any shortcuts to that by default though, you must have actually used a menu accelerator (you know ... Alt-V followed by S then Y - well, if your menus are in English). Sounds like you need to be more careful about that Alt key ...

Is in english... tried to replicate it and it didn't worked. The thing happened in "a second" no use of arrows was done.

You don't have to use arrows, you just have to press Alt. Like any other Windows program, Alt activates the menus for keyboard use.

yep... then you have to use arrows to navigate through the menus smile ...cause those letters you said don't do that change.

You must have accidentally pressed g+shift when not focusing on a text field...

If you don't like single key shortcuts, then you should disabled it so that you won't accidentally activate certain command via single-key shortcuts.
Just go to Preferences (Ctrl+F12) > Advanced > Shortcuts > unchecked Enable single-key shortcuts

Then are you using Opera 9.2 compatible keyboard setup? If yes, then the single-key shortcuts setting will be ignored...
The only way to make sure it's disabled is using Opera Standard keyboard setup (or modified of it), & unchecked the single key shortcut option.

If it's a glitch then you should file a bug report so that it will be fix. wink

I have Version 10.51 and the keyboard is "opera standard". I'll try to keep it under observation and see if I produce again that thing smile.
