[3344] Issues selecting text... and odd spell checker behavior?

Here's a couple of bugs related to text. I can't reproduce either one consistently so I haven't filed a bug report yet.

1. Using the mouse to highlight or select a block of text, I sometimes "lose" the selection. For example, when trying to click and drag over some text on a web page, it normally highlights with a shaded background, but if I hover in one spot for a second or two, Opera deselects the highlighted text. Just a moment ago I tried to highlight some text on a thread, clicked and dragged but it didn't highlight anything from the very beginning. After that it's working just fine (for now).

2. There's also a spell checker bug I can't seem to reproduce. While typing in a text entry box, occasionally Opera will flag a word as misspelled even though it's correct. Earlier it was the word 'thread'. It had the red underline. Right-clicking it yielded no suggestions and "Add word" was also grayed out. After another minute of typing, the red underline went away. I've had this happen three or four times at random while posting on bulletin boards like this one.

Because I haven't found a way to force these errors, I'm stumped.

This is on Win XP 32-bit SP2, 10.52.3344.

Update to add: the click-drag problem is affecting Google Maps and Street View as well.

Here are some examples of it flagging correct words. I apologize for the close cropping but the content of the text was political in nature.

< In this image, it has underlined 'change and for.

< In this image, it has underlined only the apostrophe (') in the word he's.

< In this image, I have deleted the offending apostrophe, and now it underlines the word not.

This is the only post I've seen on the highlighting and copy situation. If I highlight from right to left, overshoot a bit, and then back up & right click, I get the page context menu rather than the highlight context menu with the copy choice. If I highlight from left to right this does not happen. Not major, but not normal either.

Hmm. That's strange. The menu thing seems to work fine for me, doing what you described. I'll keep an eye out and see if it comes up.

Does it always do it, or just sometimes?

It seems to do it on anything but the actual text of your reply, for instance. If I highlight and back up for my quote, the word "Message" to the left, Quick Quote below, or on your user name, it will do it. I thought it might be the skin, however I tried the Native and Opera Standard and it was the same. So it would seem to be on anything but the plainest of plain text.

Ahh okay, I was trying to quote plain ol' text. When I tried to select what was in your post's quote box, using your method, I was able to reproduce that. Weird!
