Require password entry for mail client

I'm hoping to use Opera 10.51 on a netbook running Windows XP.

Is there any way to require that a password be entered for email retrieval and sending? I don't want the email client on my netbook to give automatic access to my mail accounts, because I often use it away from home. I've currently got Thunderbird set up on this computer to require that I enter my password to retrieve or send email. I don't see any way to do this with Opera mail.

I would think this would also be an issue for Opera phone applications.

In the mail account's properties, clear the username and or password fields.

Further, if your username and password for the accounts are saved, you can goto tools -> preferences -> advanced -> security, set up a master password, set how often you want it to ask and set it to protect your saved passwords.

This won't stop anyone from reading already-fetched messages though. For this, you should password-protect your user account on your computer.

I already tried clearing the password field; this is the way I made it work in Thunderbird in fact. However, in Opera, if I try to read the mail of an account that has a null password field, I get an error message, and the options to quit or try again. In Thurderbird, I'm prompted for the password.
