Opera 10.51 - In-page search is not working, and also java does not register my installations

I have a few small problems with the Opera 10.51 (I'm not sure what build or version it is, but it is the one I downloaded yesterday or so).
The first and most important one is the in-page search function, the one you press ctrl+f to open (or /). Opening it, all I get is the grey bar coming at the top of the screen. There are noe fields to write in, nor any buttons to click. I've seen screenshots of what it is supposed to look like, and I seem to lack any way to interact with it.This is what it loks like:

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also when trying to use some java applets, especially one related to a bank (dnbnor.no), it does not appear. I saw another thread on this, where poster said it would work if you reloaded the page; for me it does not. Also, when trying to verify my java I get the message "Verifying Java Version - Oops! You don't have the recommended Java installed. Your installed family version is Java 6" even though I have installed the oversion they suggest and restarted my browser. Several times, in fact. Any help on this please?

If it makes a difference in any way, I use 32-bit Windows 7.

I am sorry if this thread is started in the wrong forum, but this is what seemed most right. Please move it, should it be wrong.

Thank you

It looks like you're using an incompatible skin. Change to the standard skin, then look for a new skin compatible with Opera 10.5x. This is the right forum.

Thanks, but it doesn't seem to work. I figured I'd try the Opera Standard skin, seeing as that should work just fine, but no results. I tried some other skins as well, but it did not seem to change anything. The search bar is still just grey. Any ideas on the java part?
