Uncovering the Heart

Jer.17:9 More tortuous than all else is the human heart,
beyond remedy; who can understand it?

1Sam.16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel: "Do not judge from his appearance or from his lofty stature, because I have rejected him. Not as man sees does God see, because man sees the appearance but the LORD looks into the heart."

Prov.3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
on your own intelligence rely not;

3:6 In all your ways be mindful of him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Prov.21:2 All the ways of a man may be right in his own eyes,
but it is the LORD who proves hearts.

Prov.23:17 Let not your heart emulate sinners,
but be zealous for the fear of the LORD always;

Prov.27:19 As one face differs from another,
so does one human heart from another.

What do you learn about your own heart from these words?

Do you find yourself surprised sometimes by what you discover in your heart, both good and bad?

How well do you really know yourself?

What are you learning in your Christian journey about trusting in the Lord?

What are your dragons, poisonous beasts with which you are struggling?

Self examination is painful. The ability to self examine and to make corrections is a challenge for all of us.

Yes self examination is a difficult task, especially for christians that ard proud and feel they are too pure to sin... I think humility in the presence of God and acceptance of your wrongs is important for self examination..

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Ah... so poignant... a broken heart... a contrite heart. David certainly had that and sadly he paid a very large price for his sins. This Psalm of David's is such a blessing to so many millions of us sinners.
