"Pin tab" improvements.

1. When the user click on the "X" to close the window or exit Opera if there's a pinned tab in this window a dialog asking for confirmation to close must appear (the same dialog that you made for when downloads are in progress so you won't have many work).
2. Add integrated icon for the pin tab option ("new private tab" has a lock icon so pin tab should have something too).

1. I don't agree with that one, but it's just the way how I use pin tabs. Maybe an option to chose that would be nice (like don't ask anymore). smile
2. Ok.

I'd like to add few more:
3. If I close tab (not pinned) and there are only pin tabs open it should open new Speed dial and not one of those pin tabs. Maybe option would be nice.
4. If I close tab (not pinned) and there are still some tabs (not pinned) open it should select one of those typical (and that means not pinned) tabs not one of those pin tabs even if pin tab was chosen just before that closed tab. (I hope you understood what I ment)

I don't understand why someone would want the behaviors 3 and 4.

Because a pinned tab should have the option to act more like a fixture, like the panels, rather than a web page.

I'd add to that the option to make pinned tab's tab shrink to the favicon so it doesn't take up so much space.

I would also like this feature. Opera only asks you to confirm an exit when the last window is closed but all others, may they have pinned tabs or not, can easily (and accidentally) be closed.

You can do that with a change to the skin file. Try Google Chrome skin: http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/info/?id=10002.

Pin tab has it already - but it's not a favicon, but an icon displaying instead of close button.

There should be another type of tab locking designed for rich ajax applications like online editors, games and etc. Maybe that application should initialize such locking by themselves

i got one suggestion for pin tabs..
i think this would be great if implemented

if you run CCleaner or Delete Private Data in opera
Pin tabs and their caches will not be deleted and they will stay....

sometimes its troublesome when i accidentally run CCleaner and forgot to untick the opera >.<

all good suggestions here
+1 to 1-4
@mdnpascal: feature requests for ccleaner should go to their forums.

But sometimes I want to pin some tabs to have their caches deleted without losing them...

PS: thanks for leting me to edit your text a bit. smile

PS2: why I'm asking for an icon in the menu? because I don't really use this feature so much and an icon would make better to recognize the feature position in the menu, so I can find and click it faster.

Yes, I know that you want it by default, but for now you can change all occurrences (there are three of them) of
Item, M_LOCK_TAB = Lock page | Unlock page
to
Item, M_LOCK_TAB = Lock page,,,,"Pagebar Locked Button Skin" | Unlock page
in your customized menu.

Reply to #1: Nothing but YES! I mistakenly often close the window with a pinned tab present, without my notice.

Reply to #2: There are lots of icons missing in the default Opera skins (Opera Standard and OS Integration skin)
Look at the "O" Menu - lots of missing icons. . .

Well, there's no need for an icon for each option, just for the ones that should be easily recognized by them - or "end-user important" ones.

So it's a skin option that does this?

My skin does it too. Where can I find it in the skin to change it? I actually don't like it.

No, it is not a skin option, it was a skin option.

Oh, I see now. I just went through all my skins and they all reduce pinned tabs to a favicon. I'd definitely like that to be an option, preferably a browser one rather than skin-controlled.
