Opera - goodbye, after many years
You forced me to upgrade against my will, even though I always kept ticking that I didn't want to. Now you have somehow managed to install a new version. Nothing works. I can't even find out train times. Do you imagine I'm going to laboriously go through the work of putting right everything that used to work and no longer does? Why do you take this aggressive approach? I was perfectly happy till you did this. How have you managed to update without your knowing about it? That's literally impossible on my PC here. A guess: are you on Windows?

The second one is not either.

Most things work just fine. Whilst I can understand users' frustrations at the new version no longer working on sites where it did before, it is really very simple to install the old version (10.1) again, and to use both versions at once, while gradually resolving issues in one's free time or waiting for updates that will fix them. I have one issue with Gmail, so I use Opera 10.52 beta for Gmail, and 10.51 for browsing.

Updating to the latest version is always recommended to keep your PC secure. It is not forced on anyone. Autoupdates were first introduced for 10.1 and to make users aware of it, a dialogue was shown on upgrading recommending to enable autoupdates. Anyone using 9.64 or an older version will be warned of the dangers of using out-of-date software, and urged to upgrade. Again, the choice is their's.
Edit: I just resolved my Gmail issue by following the advice in this post. Its easy to blame Opera when things stop working, but sometimes web sites make changes that break Opera.

Try the fix that I used for Gmail. It may also fix your problem as it enables some more security protocols.
