Interface suggestion - tabs bar
Hi! I'm using Opera 10.51 on Win7.I've placed the tabs bar on the right of the screen, because it was taking up too much space un top, and websites aren't designed for wide-screen displays (like mine) anyway. The problem is that if I want to click the X button to close one tab, I accidentally pop up the Windows task bar, which is also placed on the right side of the screen, hidden.
So my suggestions for more comfort in use are:
- move the X button on the left side of the tab and make it bigger
- new opened tabs should appear up, above the old tabs (constantly moving the mouse to the bottom tab is annoying)
- maybe some more obvious sign of a tab being the active tab, like red frame around the mini-screenshot of the page, instead of a little whitening in present(which you can't notice because of the transparency of it).
- also I am complaining about the main menu, it's really hard to find what you're looking for in there.
Request: some sort of 'resource viewer' for a web page - for example if I want to find the flash video from some page, I find the cache directory and look around for a big file; wouldn't it be more elegant to do this in Opera? also a 'open cache' button would be nice...
Anyway, great job with the now look, it's really kick-ass.
Fixed
-Context menu search opening in a new tab, and not reusing current tab
Well that's not a fix, that's a bug! How about selecting which one you like - new tab or same...
Have a good day!

I agree.

I think we need to get used to it.

It's a fix for giving choice to users.
You can...
- Simply Shift + Click the search option or Ctrl + Shift + Click to open it in a new tab in the background. (I'm not sure about Mac shortcuts, maybe it's COMMAND key instead of Shift); or
- Untick the "reuse current tab" option in advanced options, so the search will open in a new tab by default. (that will affect other Opera's actions)

Suggestion: make a tutorial inside the application showing Opera's features (like take control of the mouse pointer and click buttons etc. and explain what they do).
Reason: Opera has so many buttons/options that I really don't have the patience to go through all of them and find out what they are, I'm just using what I know from the old Opera. I don't even imagine the confusion of a new user.
Suggestion: put suggestive icons on every (most) buttons.
Reason: Like I said in another post, reading is way slower than recognising a picture, so instead of reading the whole menu for one button that I'm looking for, how about some nice suggestive icons? For example, right-click this page... 17 options, 8 icons (the rest of 9 you have to read). Of course this might sound silly, but after using Opera hours in a row, it's frustrating not finding fast what you're looking for.
Suggestion: new right-click option - send page to
Reason: For example I want to translate a page. So I search for Babelfish, then come back and copy the URL, then I paste it in the translator... How about right-click -> Translate *or* Send to -> *Babelfish *Google translate *other page I set up (similar to the search engine manager) .
Suggestion: easier tab selection - right-click + pointer position detection (when I release right mouse button, open tab under the pointer).
Reason: I had 50-60 tabs open. I close one tab, I have to right-click + scroll 10 times to get to another tab. After doing that 20 times I wanna stab Opera
I was doing this because I'm using the tabs bar on the right of the screen. With 50 tabs open, you cant see half, so here comes suggestion 4(5?):Suggestion: when tabs bar is on the left/right of the screen, let me see the rest of the tabs that don't fit on the screen (maybe put a big button with an arrow pointing down; when mouse pointer is over arrow button, show me the next 20-30 tabs; for another 20-30 click it like a normal button- so I don't have to move the cursor back-forth)
Suggestion (or bug?): after maybe an hour of use, some pages don't open. It shows something like 23/24 Elements and nothing appears, even after reloading. If I open the page in, say, Chrome, the page opens. I think it's the Java engine buggin' out. I'd like to be able to see what are those elements that are loaded/waiting.
Suggestion (or bug?):I want to use the flash "disabler" from Opera Turbo (flash starts when I press that play button) without enabling Opera Turbo.
Also it isn't working properly - you can't see the flash on this page http://www.flash-game.net/game/1985/bubble-shooter.html
Bug: a tab containing a PDF opened with Adobe Reader, when closed with Ctrl+W, closes the whole app.
Have a nice day!

Well that was intuitive ...
Thanks for the info.
