Well there is one test where IE9 beats all other browsers: http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/40PulsatingBubbles/Default.xhtml
Using Windows 7 64Bit SP1 and of course Opera
(If nothing else stated the most current weekly) on a nice Dell Studio XPS 16!

I would be careful to take informations by one source that is made by the producer. For sure, Microsoft wants to show that IE9 is the best (and I am sure, this will be better than the IEs before) and as you can see, people believe it. But going against them with ONE source that is made in a blog of the Opera community is bad, because they want to defend "their" browser.
Then you can ask here which browser is the best and everyone will say Opera, but this doesn't help anything, because here are more or less only-Opera-users or mostly-Opera-users. If you make the same in the Community of Firefox, you will have the same result, but with Firefox as the best (in both cases).
So, this discussion is with these links senseless.
You also should have a closer look: MS compared IE9 with Opera 10.50 and not with Opera 10.52.

gosh - of course ie9 is best in a test made my McShit - how about "wilderness" - real internet and so on?
and anyway - ie9 is not faster - it just eats more resources - it needs more powerfull PC and more energy is consumed.
so wtf?

Go to http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/11BrowserFlip/Default.html. it is IE9 test drive demo. Run that demo in ie9 preview. run in chrome. run in firefox. run in opera. I have tried it on both DualCore 3GHz + 3GB RAM and Atlon XP 1.8GHz + 0.5GB RAM. On both machines that demo runs smoothly ONLY in Opera 10.50+

Minimalistic approach to browser UI is overrated

This demo runs even too fast on Opera... It has much smoother feeling on Chrome with the same 60fps perfomance...
According to Apple, Safari beats them all... http://www.apple.com/safari/whats-new.html#overlay-performance
I keep Opera, the smartest browser.
