Download file "cm"? dialog for iframe source on reddit
On reddit.com I keep getting a file download dialog for a mysterious file called "cm". It turns out this is the filename of an iframe for an amazon ad. This usually occurs when I hit the back button to go back to the list of links on reddit. I've saved the relevant files to my computer but it doesn't seem to happen with the files, only the actual website. This started with version 10.5.This from the reddit.com root:
<iframe id="ad-frame" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" name="ad-frame" src="http://www.redditmedia.com/ads/"></iframe>
which loads this (it has different content every time, this is the one that causes the problem):
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<title></title>
<style type="text/css">
#ad {
background-color: white;
width: 100%;
text-align: center;
font: normal small verdana, arial, sans-serif;
}
#adlink {
background-color: white;
width: 100%;
text-align: center;
font: normal small verdana, arial, sans-serif;
}
#adlink {width: 100%; text-align: center;}
#adlink a {color: #336699; text-decoration: none}
#adlink a:hover {text-decoration: underline}
#ad a img {border: none}
</style>
</head>
<body style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">
<div id="ad">
<a target="_top" href="javascript:void(0)">
<iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=redditcom-20&o=1&p=12&l=ur1&category=baby&banner=0NZY3146JAC39SPTJC82&f=ifr" width="300" height="250" scrolling="no" border="0" marginwidth="0" style="border:none;" frameborder="0"></iframe>
</a>
</div>
<div id="adlink">
<a target="_top" href="http://reddit.com/r/ads/submit?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.redditmedia.com%2Fads%2Famazon-affiliate-7">
reddit this ad
</a>
</div>
</body>
</html>
which loads this (the file "cm"):
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <body topmargin="0" leftmargin="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0"> <map name="boxmap"> <area shape="rect" coords="0,235,100,250" href="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm/privacy-policy.html?o=1" target="_top"> <area coords="0,0,10000,10000" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000364491&tag=redditcom-20&camp=213377&creative=392481&linkCode=ur1&adid=16K2AV9MW68EFNGZD3W6" target="_top"> </map> <table width="300" height="250" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr><td><img src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/associates/2009/banners/amazon-video-on-panasonic-300x250.gif" width="300" height="250" border="0" usemap="#boxmap"> </td></tr> </table> </body> </html>
Am I right in thinking it should never offer to open/download an iframe source?
We need a clear recipe to reproduce the issue. I tried clicking on a link to the news article about the Polish Prime Minister's plane crash, then the back button, but I didn't get any download dialogue. Possibly there is something wrong with your MIME types?
Do you have inline frames enabled in Preferences, Content, Style Options ?

Well it depends which ad is showing on reddit at the time, which is random. So far I've only noticed it with amazon ads, but I don't know if it's all amazon ads. I don't think it depends on which link you click.
Yes, I have inline frames enabled.
The content type in the header is text/html, which I have as 'open with opera'. The file itself has no extension, it's just http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=redditcom-20&o=1&p=12&l=ur1&category=baby&banner=0NZY3146JAC39SPTJC82&f=ifr, which works fine on its own.
I'm going to try reinstalling Opera

That won't work as your settings are preserved on uninstalling.
Resetting Your Opera Profile
opera6.ini is now called operaprefs.ini — move it to a backup folder and restart Opera to generate a default profile configuration (this will reset all settings you have changed).
