N97 Mini Keyboard Issues

Using Opera Mini on my N97 mini, I often encounter problems with text entry. Sometimes the keyboard refuses to get out of the secondary function state, (instead of 'Y' I get '6', instead of 'S' I get '/'), and the enter key doesn't work sometimes. This only happens in Opera Mini, Opera Mobile works fine.

Any suggestions?

Restart your phone and open Opera Mini (as being first application accessed). Result?

I get the same problem on my N97.

However, a quick flick back to the phone menu then back into Opera fixes this problem.

I use the hardware button on the phone - not sure if that exists on the N97 mini - then click on (or switch back to) opera.

Still annoying though.

Hmmm, from what I remember when testing S60 there is a way to lock the modifier keys, perhaps you are accidentally triggering some feature like that? If not, then this sounds like an issue with the Java environment on your phone which an updated firmware (or JVM) might help with.

If you want you can download MKey (mini.opera.com/mkey) on your phone and see if you can reproduce the stuck modifier key there. MKey will show you the key events as they are sent from the JVM and if they are broken we can't do much about it unfortunately.
