Multiple Opera Problems on my Vista PC

Hi there (New forum user here wink )

This is not really the way i wanted to make my start on the forum but i have several issues with the latest release on my vista pc and was wondering if there is something i missed or that can be done to solve the issues.

Current Issues are

1. Opera Turbo seems to do the opposite for me.....

2. Browsing sometimes seems to freeze up, as in it takes 5mins for a page to move to the next page on clicking the links. (other browsers are fine and fast)

3. There seems to be issues with webpages ending in php, i cant make any sellections on such pages (as in ticking boxes, item sellections etc)

4. Widgets i used to run on the old version arent working anymore.

5. Opera Voice, more specifically Opera webpage reader (speak) does not work at all. For some reason i download the sound files but noting actually downloads onto the pc. (This option used to work before)

So quite a few issues there. I really liked this browser and would like to keep using it, but with all these issues i will be forced to use an alternative which i dont really want to do.

Please advise on some or all issues if you all can please..

Pogo,

Welcome to the Opera forums. A couple of pointers. There are a lot of threads in this forum. At the upper right corner is a search box. Try entering a couple of key words about your issue. It's possible that others have experienced it and solved the problem. Also mention the version of Opera you are using. I would guess that you have upgraded to 10.51 from a previous version.

When using Opera Turbo or another ISP provided accelerator, it uses a proxy. Please see this thread that was recently posted: Have I done something wrong Opera 10.51 is very slow for me

I'm unable to provide any ideas for the voice issue.

A new TLS 1.2 security protocol was introduced in 10.50 to fix a severe vulnerability with previous versions of SSL v3 and TLS. Both user clients and servers need to upgrade to include this new protocol. If you have upgraded an existing Opera installation as opposed to a clean install in a new directory, not all of the security ciphers may have been enabled in your previous version. Click here for a an image. Preferences (Ctrl + F12) > Advanced > Security > Security Protocols > Details. There is a group of 6 that end with SHA-256 (e.g. 128 bit AES (RSA/SHA-256). Check them if they are not selected. If you have a problem logging into a site, press Alt + Enter > Security tab; this will show you the security protocol and cipher that is being used.

Hope this helps!

How? And how about adding at least a couple of basic details, such as your, uh, connection speed?!

There seems to be issues with webpages ending in php, i cant make any sellections on such pages (as in ticking boxes, item sellections etc)

Got nothing to do with PHP. If you are having problems with a site you'll have to read the sticky thread on how to post about that.

Widgets i used to run on the old version arent working anymore.

Again, why aren't you providing people with any details whatsoever?

So quite a few issues there. I really liked this browser and would like to keep using it, but with all these issues i will be forced to use an alternative which i dont really want to do.

How are you going to use a different browser for Turbo, widgets and voice browsing?

@iPogo: It is not always that clear, but Opera Turbo is only for use on a SLOW connection like dialup or a mobile phone dongle. If you have a decent Broadband speed, you want to turn Opera Turbo OFF.

Basically - the Opera Turbo option loads all of your pages via the Opera Servers. This allows Opera to compress the images a lot more, therefore speeding up the overall experience for those on a slow connection.
Happy Opera user since v3.5x back in the previous Century
