Need filter help

One of the things I find difficult with Opera mail is the filter concept.

I am accustomed to using local folders ala Outlook/Thunderbird, which does not apply here. Anyway, I can set up a filter properly (I think) to filter out those messages I wish to retain, however when I delete them from the Inbox or Received areas they are deleted from the filter as well.

What am I doing wrong? Also, I find it strange you need to right-click the filter name as set up by Opera in order to rename it.

I really like Opera and want to adopt it, but this area just feels like and afterthought in its execution. Not to prop up Micro$oft, but their filtering is much more advanced and comprehensive.

Thanks for any help in advance.

OK, just in case you haven't read the linked post above, I'll make it easy for ya smile Basically the filter method is keeping all the eggs in one basket and then changing which eggs you can see by applying filters. The way i have it set up is all my personal mails show in the received box only, and anything computer related shows up in a filter imaginatively named computer. It's very easy to configure, and you shouldn't be deleting anything from anywhere. What you should be doing is going to the filter, and and under properties ticking the box saying 'Mark messages as filtered'. Next go to your received folder and click on the view button along the top and under 'show' untick the show filtered box. From your post it seems you want this to use this filter for mails that need to be saved, so this method should work. As you won't be able to see those mails in your received folder you can then just select everything in that folder and delete it.
