No Window menu in Opera 10.50 and above

Hi Folks,

Currently I dislike Opera 10.50 and above! There is no Window menu which shows all the windows currently open! It is the menu item I use most! Hiding the other menu items behind that red O, is a waste of energy!

Also, how can I keep my Opera upgrading automatically from 10.10 to the latest version? I keep having to reinstall 10.10 !

You can enable it - provided you also enable the menu bar. Otherwise ... well, you might use the Windows panel, or you might edit the menu setup to put the Window menu on the O button somewhere (say, under "Tabs and Windows), or you could create a button or keyboard shortcut to display it.

This is a signficant issue for many users. What if you don't want to show the menu bar? The button menu should show the same menu as the main menu bar.

Fixing the Browser Button Menu

Another solution is to create shortcuts to show each of the menus, such as:

f alt = Show popup menu, "Browser file menu"
v alt = Show popup menu, "Browser view menu"
w alt = Show popup menu, "Browser window menu"

This has the added advantage of enabling the conventional access key shortcuts to the menus. With the browser button menu (the big O menu), one can still use access keys, but one must press and release Alt before pressing the access key. Although this change in behaviour is very minor, it can take some getting used to as it is unlike most other Windows applications.

If you like to try my customised Unite Menu you may get some ideas for making Opera fit your own needs. It removes a lot of rarely used menu items, but keeps frequently used items within easy reach. You can dispense with the mail panel too.
