Opera freezes after a PDF file was opened

Hello,

I have faced this behavior multiple times before, I was just thinking I was unlucky. However, with such a frequency, this seems to be a bug.

It oftenly happens when I click web link which turns to be a link to a PDF document, when I close the PDF document tab, then Opera freeze. When I close the Opera Window, the Opera icon remains in the Windows systray. I have to do a right click on it and choose "Quit" in the context menu, to make it disappears. But this is not enough, as each time Ctrl+Alt+Del shows me the Opera process is still there, and I have to stop it manually.

When is happened one more time just a few seconds ago, I've noticed, before I closed the process, that the Opera process was consuming 50% of CPU, and probably 100% of one CPU of a dual-core (while the Opera windows was closed at that time)
For publication tool chain (for the web and else) : Semantic online editor, Lasidoré (XML based) - prerelease - requires at least Opera 9.5 to work nice

Google is not a synonym of Search engine : boys and girls, have a look at Exalead and WolframAlpha

You need an updated Acrobat Reader. 9.3.1 works just fine. Old versions of Acrobat are REALLY bad and full of serious security issues (80% of web exploits are now PDF based..)

Yes — upgrade your PDF Viewer, or change it for a better one. PDF-XChange is much faster at finding text in PDF files.

Watch out for the non-Acrobat PDF readers, they are much slower in patching vulnerabilities, and suffer most, if not all, the same problems of the Adobe reader.

I've just checked the version, this is Acrobat 8.

Strange it was not updated. Gonna do it right now, thanks for the tip.

This is just a load of FUD. Other vendors take security just as seriously as Adobe.

Unfortunately, most vendors don't have the resources that Adobe do to test, maintain and patch software. I'm sorry, but I trust Adobe more than some 2 main "fred-in-the-shed" outfit.

Two men in a shed could not develop a PDF viewer like PDF-XChange, nor even Foxit Reader. You should be using IE instead of Opera if that's the way you judge a software vendor's attitude to security. There are loads of PDF viewers out there, so maybe some may be written by a small team or a single programmer, but I'm not talking about those unknown and untried free alternatives to Adobe Reader.
