2. I don't see that area here.
3. I want to know the answer to that one too. They use 16 pixel favicons. Have you tried replacing the favicon with custom image and mark it as read-only?

Found it, it's the [Splitter Horizontal Divider Skin] section. But, first of all, it goes all the way down, not just between the button tool bars. And, secondly, it seems like its color is the only thing I can change. So I guess I'll just leave it be.

I get it no matter what skin I'm using. Could it be a Mac specific thing? What's your OS?

In this case it's a local file and it doesn't matter what kind of image I link as a favicon, it always gets resized to 16 pixels. Do you mean replacing the file in the local icons directory? Haven't tried that but I'll give it a shot.
Thanks for your help.

Reason is complex:

The area where the buttons are is called
[Hotlist Selector Skin] or [Hotlist Selector Skin.top]
there are two things there those big buttons and another area called [Hotlist Floating Skin]
When you put buttons inside all of them goes to [Hotlist Floating Skin] (same place as + button that was originally there) not inside [Hotlist Selector Skin].
Solution A:
[Selector Button Skin] and [Hotlist Floating Button Skin] has to be same.
Change your skin so that [Hotlist Selector Skin] has no padding and margin and neither does [Hotlist Floating Skin] (or any other workable combination)
This dependent on your exact skin so more changes may be required what you need to achieve is that when you put button inside [Hotlist Floating Skin] button would be in same environment as in [Hotlist Selector Skin]
example
[Hotlist Selector Skin]
padding top = 2
[Hotlist Floating Skin]
padding top = 2
means that button in [Hotlist Floating Skin] has 2 less space to live than in [Hotlist Selector Skin] cause it is affected by both
be careful of .left , .top , .right , .bottom it can mess your perception of what section is in effect.
Solution B:
edit toolbar.ini so that buttons are in [Hotlist Selector] not in [Hotlist Floating] (I am not sure if it is possible)
anyway section is there [Hotlist Panel Selector.content] but it has unusual syntax (have fun)

Thanks for the info! Alas, I couldn't figure out how to do it, maybe I'll give it another try later...
