How do I get back my old toolbar?

I have upgraded to Opera 10.51 and sorely miss the Toolbar - the one with the Files/Bookmarks/Mail/Info etc...

Right now I can only see the open(save/search/overlap/and speech bar - none of which I really need. How do I restore those features.

I ask because I need to export, or save, my mails and bookmarks before trying to fix the other issues. Right now I cant quite see, how I do that.

Pesala - you are right. I should have said, that I had already tried this one:

So what happens when you press the Alt key? Do you see the drop down menu? What does it say on that?

Actually squat happens. This is getting to be seriously annoying - I am not a total luddite and am at my wits end. I have spent the better part of 4 hours trying to get this to work - which is kind of difficult since the toolbar is not there. (Things are not helped by the fact that I use a Danish set-up and try to translate the English-language instructions into something akin to Danish).

Try this then.

Menu Drag to any toolbar and click the button.

(Edit, yeah... or use Pesala's)
Maybe try adding a temporary <a href="opera:/button/Show%20hidden%20popup%20menu,%22Browser%20Menu%20Bar%22,,Menu,%22Window%20Browser%20Icon%22">menu button</a> then go to <i>File - Show Menu Bar</i>...

Other than that, maybe try switching back to a default keyboard layout (assuming yours isn't default)
Preferences
- Advanced
-- Shortcuts

Although I think "Alt" (should) would override anything in the Keyboard setup since it's the default behavior in most applications to show the menu when Alt is pressed.

Or while you are there, skip the button... and just create a new keystroke/shortcut, with the command "<i>enable menu bar</i>".

Otherwise, go to<i> Appearance - Toolbars</i> and check the option "<i>Show hidden toolbars while customizing</i>" (bottom of the dialog) which will (should) show the Menu button area, which will be about 16x16 pixels and to the left of the Tab bar... click in that area (while the dialog is still open) and then try resetting to defaults (assuming you couldn't get to it before, and were just restoring the main Tab bar to defaults)

<i>Other</i> than that... gets more complicated, and you'd probably have to edit your Toolbar.ini file manually.

Thanks - it didnt work either...sorry. I easily dragged it to the bar - and nothing.

(Whoever got the moronic idea, that we should not be able to go to the preferences from the toolbar deserves to enter a world of pain). I have tried to change the settings via ctrl+12 - no dice either.

I have actually uninstalled the whole program - after backing up all important files. Didnt help either.

I have tried many of the tips at the help pages, but they seem to work only for the earlier versions of - up to 10.50, but are useless today.

I am getting panicky. I have used Opera for many years - since having an RSI-related injury, which I could avoid by not using the mouse. That feature is one of the main reason I use Opera

Bottom line - if I cant use it, I am truly effed.

Blimey - I dunno what happened. I deleted the menu button Pescala had posted and moved it up once more - and hey, presto. It was there. Thank you - and I will give up trying to understand why it worked the 3rd time.
