Disable text selection on SVG text elements

Is there a way to disable Opera's text selection on SVG text elements?

In SVG-edit [1] we have recently added our own mechanism to select and edit text, but currently Opera creates a selection block too. Would be great if there was a way to disable that.

Forgot to mention that I need events to work on this element, so setting pointer-events to none is not an option.

I have checked your editor. It seems quite nice. I can offer an untested hack, I don't know if that will work with SVG, you can normally modify HTML text selection, when ever mouse moves, remove the selection. Its not pretty but it might do the trick. Hope you find a better answer, and good luck.
