auto fill address bar in Opera for Mac
I am trying to figure out how to get Opera for Mac to auto fill the address bar. Opera on windows works, but not for Mac.Example, when I begin to type an address, say www.ebay.com, in WIndows, As soon as I start typing, the address bar shows the rest of the address and I can press enter to go to the site.
In Mac, I have to start typing, then hit the down arrow to select the address.
Anyone know how I can get Mac to work in the same manner as windows?
From ryan's description of the behavior, it seems that he is talking about how Opera displays all the relevant URLS in its history and bookmarks below the address bar in a dropdown and does not preselect one and place it in the address bar itself as do some other browsers. iCab, for example, offers a pref setting to do it either way. I don't see this option in Opera's preferences (which could just mean I'm blind, of course
), and can't say anything about whether it's available in Windows.

Thanks for the responses guys.
I am using Snow Leopard and Windows 7. Opera 10.10 for Mac.
In windows, it does work after I type in the address. Say I go to google on both systems. Windows 7, after the first time, it remembers the address. I type "g" and the "oogle" is filled in.
on My Mac, I type "g", then have to click the down arrow to get the full name in the address bar. Not sure whats going on and I cant seem to find a setting in Mac.
As an example, with Firefox you can do this:

anyone know how to do this in Opera?
Thanks!

silon, this does not do what Ryan is talking about, at least not for me. He wants the address to complete in the address field as he types. Currently, typing in the address field opens a dropdown list of options, but does not actually auto-insert one in the field. If this is not the case for you, then please tell us where you find the setting to allow this. I looked and I don't see it. (Please check his example and think about what he's asking!)
Ryan, I am trying the new 10.52 RC and it does something like what you want, although not exactly the same way. The address bar in this version has some new behaviors, not all to everyone's liking, but one of which may help you. In this version it will in fact, autocomplete a domain name which you have previously entered in the address field. So, if you don't mind the other new behaviors, you may like this. This is build 8333 and is available here . (This works just the way silon suggests, but it is not available in 10.10. It's part of the new (and deeply flawed, IMHO) address bar behaviors in 10.5x.
Hey, Thanks a lot! I tried the new version and it works for me. I'll have to see about some other new features, but this seems to meet my needs so far.
I appreciate the help!

No problem
One tip, in case you haven't come across it someplace else: In order to get the server name completion to work when entering a domain name the first time, type "/" after the first part, e.g. "espn/" will invoke Opera's server name completion routine instead of the "Did you mean..." dialog. The next time you type "espn" it will then complete automatically in the address field.
