youtube login on 9.64
I know it might be a youtube problem, but:I was logged into youtube permanently until recent (think youtube changed things), and I need to get logged back in. O 9.64 on XP
The other day, I would get some strange error message, now it just complains about the password (thought I changed and remembered it; though, the system might be conflating it with some new google pwd they forced on me). Will try resetting pwd, but please help if you know the trick here.
Maybe the bigger problem is that video and audio are going out of synch (annoying to see when someone is speaking).
Is Google/YouTube causing problems for a lot of people (doesn't matter which version of Opera)? Are they breaking stuff that worked great before?
Today I got my password changed at Google. I think it is a new account created inadvertently for a non-google email account with no prior connection to google. I logged into this account, but youtube still wont log me in. That is my only purpose for this google account. Did Google cancel and erase my prior YT account? When I click on sign-in (YT) it asks me to log out of G, or it doesn't do anything. Can someone help?
YT decided to block many versions of Opera. It places a cookie on your computer that prevents YT videos from loading.
There is a way to get around this, but you probably won't be able to login to YT anymore.
Go to Preferences > Advanced > Cookies > Manage cookies
Search for "youtube" and delete all cookies.
Then in Preferences > Advanced > Cookies
check "Ask me before accepting cookies".
Go to http://www.youtube.com
When asked to accept cookies check "Remember my choice for all cookies for this domain" and click REFUSE.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to stay logged in AND permanently refuse the specific cookie (VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=1) that will prevent YT video from being loaded.

Thanks Jordy,
Your directions made sense, but they did not work (vids still do not play).
Meanwhile, I still can't log in to YT. Their directions got me logged into some Google account. It's tied to an outside email, which is tied to my YT account, but all this bull shit doesn't get me logged into the YT account. ?????
Maybe related: Plug-ins are not working in most cases. Some used to work. An easy fix for these problems?

Do you have plugins enabled?
You can try enabling all securityprotocols:
Preferences > Security > Security Protocols > Details.
If you want to play hard ball you can also delete all cookies by deleting:
[DRIVE]:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Opera\Opera 9\cookies4.dat

This is the first time I hear about this. I still use Opera 9.27 and 9.64 for my YT accounts, and occasionally use 9.02, 9.10, 9.52 and the latest Opera 10 (being logged in with all of them) to check my userscript in. To date, I never had the issue of the browser being blocked with either version of Opera, and all videos play fine except for that quirk on channel pages in Opera 10 which is a known issue. The only problem I experienced was the recent "Old Flash? Go upgrade!" message which was resolved by means of a userjs somebody crafted with which I didn't experience any side effects.YT decided to block many versions of Opera. Tomcat "the farce is mine" 76 | WinXP Pro 32bit · JRE 7u21 · Default UA: Opera 9.27 (file extensions in cache & Google Images layout) | My computer | Download different Opera versions
Ah, that's interesting. A lot of people had the problem that youtube videos suddenly stopped to load. A message appears that "an error occured, please try again later", but the problem was a cookie. I couldn't get YT to work normal on versions lower than 10.50. Only way of solving it was by rejecting VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=1.
Ow, I see you tried it on 9.X version. Maybe the problem only occurs on 10.00 - 10.10

Plugins are"checked", and I added four unchecked security protocols. Still no go.
The YT pages have a black window where the vid should be playing. If I "mask as FF or IE", an image from the vid appears, and a pop-up error about old browsers appears, but the vid still won't play.
I am not inclined to wipe the entire cookies file, but there were not any YT cookies to be found.
