Opera Mini on the iPhone: No bookmark syncronisation

After activating Opera Link on Opera Mini I excepted to see my bookmarks, but none appeared. I am not having a problem with sub folders, but nothing is appearing at all.

My bookmarks are on the server because they also appear on the Opera Link page, as well as more than one PC.

Opera Mini only downloads the bookmarks from 'Opera Mini' folder.

I have bookmark folders and files in the "Opera Mini" folder, but no sync with iPhone Opera Mini. Sync with Opera in other PCs works fine.

Thanks for your replies!

grawity: Does this folder have to be created? I don't see the Opera Mini folder on my desktop browser.
I have created a test folder in my Opera Mini, does not seem to appear either.

Bookmark a website (on your iPhone) and then re-sync.

I created a bookmark of a website (Wiki), and it then created an "Oprea Mini" folder in on the desktop. When I created the iPhone bookmark, it was saved outside of the default oprea browser in Oprea Mini.

I then bookmarked a couple of pages from the desktop, which were saved into the Opera Mini folder. I then checked the iPhone browser for bookmarks and they were not there. I then went to setting and since opera link was already on, I turned it off and it had me log back in = Desktop bookmarks showed up.

So I tried it again, and no bookmarks. It seems to me that Opera Mini does not keep you logged in, must turn off & back on & log back in for it to work.

Question: Can I see saved/sync notes anywhere within the browser or do I have to bookmark opera link page to access them?

@ centura, Thanks!
Some Minutes after bookmarking a website on my iPhone the sync worked.

@iOPOLO
You don't have to create a folder named 'Opera Mini'. After entering your Opera Link login on the iPhone, all bookmarks in the iPhone are automaticly in the Opera Mini folder. This folder have on Desktop Opera a green icon.

I suppose you talk about Opera Mini 5 browser. Yes, the only way to see and edit notes on OM5 is to bookmark Opera Link page for notes.

It worked for me now too. I noticed it created a "green icon" with a sync symbol.
It takes a little time to appear and nope, I did not have to manually create it.
Thank you.

Good to hear up I was getting seriously worried because so many iPhone users seem to have problems of getting the 'Opera Mini' folder to appear on desktop Opera.

Once you have synchronized (took the Opera Link into use) for the first time, I recommend you do this: Just create one folder called 'Test' on Opera Mini 5, save one bookmark into that folder, and then return to start page (or just exit the bookmarks) on OM5. Then open the menu and wait awhile. Do this just for fun wink You should see Opera Link icon displayed on title bar for a short moment. Then on desktop Opera 10.5, just wait for awhile as well. 'Opera Mini' folder should appear there eventually.

In other words, synchronization happens when there is something to update bigsmile

serola: There is no to manually start "sync now" so you can do that trick or / and just wait smile

@ JoachimHeimfel - On desktop Opera 10.5, open 'Menu > Appearance...', Choose 'Buttons' tab and 'Browser' section. Then drag the green 'Synchronize' button where ever you like to have it on toolbars. I'm not sure what are the correct names because I have Opera in Finnish wink

Ok, I've somehow got lost and confused in this entire effort. HELP. This is where I'm at:

1) I can get bookmarks to sync both ways: to & from desktop browser black "Opera Mini" folder (which has a red dot on it), but it only syncs if I turn off then back on the opera link button on iPhone browser setting ~ in effect logging back in

I had to wait a bit for the links to synchronize. Try adding that "button" described above by serola and syncing, then reopening Opera Mini.

Yeah, I already had that quick sync icon ~ I've got a different problem. Everything only syncs if I re-log into Opera Link on iPhone

Hi iOPOLO, I am not so sure about your problem, wish I could help but I had the issue to start with.

Sorry, I don't see the advantage to Opera for the iPhone if I can't easily sync bookmarks. All these steps just to sync bookmarks? I still can't get it to work and I've done all these things, even removed Opera from my iPhone and then added it back again to try to get the famous intro screen. Safari does bookmark sync for me automatically through iTunes. I was able to do a quick direct wifi sync with iCab, too. A browser without bookmarks isn't much good. And the enable sync function in settings makes me enter user name and password each time, more bother.

It works for me, I just copied all the bookmarks I wanted on the phone to the "Opera Mini" folder that was created
