Exasperated!!! No Direct Connection Possible

Alright, im at my wit's end. I already placed my computer in DMZ mode. Firewall is off.

For safe measure, i even forwarded 8840 to my computer. seriously what is wrong?

Same problem. To me it says check opera:config#WebServer|ProxyHost
I did it, changed it back to standard (which it already was) and still, nothing...
It also says, restart Unite to solve the problem, did it about 100 times, still no difference!!!

What's going on???

if you access it via direct IP or dynamic dns... it works. but what's the use of going through the hassle? by doing that, applications aren't working properly!!! someone fix this please?

Greetings,

LMAF ...The Only help that I can offer is Don't pay any attention to what it says in the OperaUnite Status Panel. It is Broken (a known bug) and does not reflect the true system state. What is suppose to happen is when you go to opera:config#web server and check the "Do Not Use Opera Account " the system will come up without using your Opera Account as a proxy server. The little status note should change to "direct connection possible" which would be you IP address and Port Number . I guess they plan to put a check box in the Advanced interface some day when they get around to it. This would be used if you want to go directly through you server if you have a Static IP address for your machine.

But you can log on by using your IP address even if it says "no direct connection possible " test the connect yourself and log on.

Cheers !

But with that option on you can't administrate your Unite apps (see the password etc.).
For sharing your passworded links there could be an option to specify your own dynamic dns domain that would be used in the links you can copy. Would save the tedium of having to always replace them..

Hey there,

I've just experimented with Opera Unite for some days, and I am not sure whether or not people can establish a direct connection to my computers (not a huge fan of the proxies).

so here´s the situation: I´ve forwarded the ports 80 (to 15432) and 15432 (to 15432) to my computer and set the latter port as the Opera Unite standard Port (UPnP is disabled). So, now when i enter my router´s public IP adress on a different internet connection, I get to the Opera Unite start page, so it seems like I´m able to directly connect to my Computer.

However, the opera Unite status always tells me that a direct connection is not possible. Now im wondering why this is the case? And most importantly, will users that come to my Unite page via alexanderleonhartsberger.operaunite.com get a direct connection to my PC, or will they have a connection with operas Proxies?

Many thanks in advance

Alex

That is because you are working with a known bug that has not been fixed yet . you can make a direct connect the status window does not report. test the connect yourself with a remote computer. scared
