Scrupulous fairness? One ex-Colonist will be happy (but) !

I was watching the Daily politics Show and they announced what was apparently a feature leading up to the General Election. The (UK) Libertarian Party. Puzzled me a bit as I wasn't aware they were participating having only been founded in 2008. They then had a brief chat with the leader a smart and obviously intelligent young man who had been a product of that fine school, Eton. He then explained that they did support a couple of Independents that being just a small lot of 450 "but growing" they were putting up one candidate for Westminster.

However thedawgfan may not be happy with the end of the interview. Andrew Neil politely quizzed him about a blog he had made where he used some very vicious and rather despicable language some of which couldn't be repeated so early in the day (9pm watershed and all that). He became noticeably ill at ease and squirmed and had to make a grovelling tv apology. He will have to learn that as a party leader you must have a more sensible public attitude and I do trust that their counterparts in the ex-Colonies show better judgement?

Well, mistakes do tend to happen to new parties.
He will have to learn from them and (depending on the seriousness of the language) move on. (Or alternatively resign for the good of the party)

Of course we do! I expect significant gains due to the new health law that has just passed.
Most unfortunately, the Libertarian Party and myself disagree quite vehemently on the new law.

I must say though, I am quite glad that the filth that joins the Tea Party doesn't bother joining the Libertarian Party.
Most fellow Libertarians I know despise that pathetic "movement". They, like I, know that those fools will probably set us a back a decade or two.

Still though, it's quite nice for the UK to have formed it's own Libertarian Party. I wish it the best of luck. cheers

Speaking of daft parties (!), you(all) might be interested to read the manifesto of the Official Monster Raving Loony party here.

They probably have more members than the Libertarian Party. They certainly put up a lot of candidates at elections.
The OPERA forum will close on March 1st.
However there is an escape route where many of us are gathering to avoid Armagedon:
see The DnD Sanctuary for gaming, for discussions on Browsers or anything in particular, and just Lounging about.

You seem to underestimate the power of the sneaky-sneaky... (Libertarian Party)
When you Brits begin to pay for Greece's debt, I suspect a lot of people get angry.
I doubt they will turn to the Tories or Labour to solve their problems.
No doubt they will turn to the UKIP or new Libertatian party.

It was more lynching that interview. The language that Mounsey used was hardly that reprehensible, but I spent four years in the Navy, so you know where I'm coming from. I've heard worse here. He did admit to calling a pol a "filthy troll," and wished that she would "bleed to death." He did apologize, but shame on him.

Well I do think the smaller parties will pick up votes this time round but whether they make a dent is something else. UKIP, Greens, BNP, will all increase their votes. By the way it is my understanding that the British Libertarians actually have a town/city councillor somewhere in darkest England. It is strange that UKIP the BNP and to a much lesser extent, Green Party has done better in the Euro Elections. UKIP is hoping for a Westminster breakthrough in Buckinghamshire and the BNP in Barking. The Greens and BNP are standing in over 300 constituencies for the first time and UKIP is tyring to show they are not a one label party. Perhaps a degree of caution mind you we were told at the last General Election the minor parties would break through but they got squeezed. However I do tend to suspect that the smaller parties will see an obvious rise in their votes right across the nation.
