opera not shutting down completely - help please?
most days, when I close opera and try to shut down my computer I get an End Program error window that tells me that Opera is still running. If I select "end now" I get another error window that Opera is not responding. Checking Task Manager shows no running Opera in applications tab but opera.exe is still listed in the process tab. It makes no difference if I wait 30 sec (like I used to) or 10 minutes or even hours. The only way is to force it to end in task manager or in the error window (and hope the warning that ending the program will cause loss of data is not going to do any damage)
if I need to close the browser without shutting down the computer and then try to restart it later, I get a message that opera is already running and I again have to go to task manager processes to force it to end so I can restart it (again, it's not running in applications tab)
this is a totally new problem that started after I was automatically upgraded 10.51 then reverted back to 10.10. I did a complete complete uninstall of 10.51 then clean install of 10.10. This was all after a re-install of XP/SP2. Nothing else has changed on my system.
how do I get rid of this error safely so that opera fully closes?
thanks for any help anyone can give
it's happening on my laptop as well, running 10.10. Not every time I shut down, but frequently. I used to think it was pdfs causing it, but upgrading to the latest acrobat reader didn't fix it and it's happened recently with sessions where no pdfs were accessed. I figured that was a quirk of the laptop which is a bit buggy to begin with
but now that it's happening nearly all the time on my desktop I think there's a real problem
One thing I did notice is that when clearing the cache opera (no tabs open) is using up to 85% of my cpu! so possibly it's the cache clearing on exit that's causing it to never close properly and the process just hangs.
so then maybe the question becomes, how to fully clear cache without hanging? any ideas anyone?
