[Regression?]Open a link in a new background tab not working with find panel
Hi,I'm trying to use my keyboard as much as possible when I surf, and Opera is truly the best browser for this.
But when I try to open a link in a new background tab by searching for the link using in-line find (,) and holding down shift and pressing enter;
It ignores my command and opens the link in the same tab instead. This can be "fixed" by waiting for the find panel to hide and then using the "Open in background tab" command.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Search for a link on a page using inline find panel
2) Hold Shift and press enter when the link is highlighted green.
3) ...
4) Profit!
I don't know when this problem arose, so I'm posting this in beta testing forum. If this is not appropriate, please move this topic.
And I want to see if it's reproducible on other systems too, so please respond if you have Vista, W7, OS X or some kind of Linux.
System: Opera 10.52 3363 Win XP 32bit.
You need to hold Ctrl + Shift to open a link in the background. This only works once the find toolbar has disappeared.
This was broken in 10.1, but works in both 10.51 and 10.52 build 3363.

I'm sorry, you're right!
I actually meant open the link in a new tab. But why shouldn't this command work when the toolbar is open too?
I find this strange and I think it's a regression.
Confirmed (Ubuntu 9.10, Opera 10.52-6312), I think it should have the behavior you describe.
You can change this behavior by changing the keyboard shortcuts. Under Browser Window:
Enter shift -> Change Go to Open link in new page
Enter shift ctrl -> Change Go to Open link in background page

Yes. I think you should. It did work under 10.1 and it does seem odd that Enter works, but shift enter or ctrl shift enter only work after the find toolbar has disappeared.
There seems to be a more general issue with focus not returning to the page while the toolbar is open, e.g. to scroll down using the cursor keys.

Thanks for that, I also find opening searched links (,) opening to new or background tabs very useful.
As a temporary workaround to force the focus back to page while the search bar is still alive, I suggest the Focus Page shortcut F9 (or Alt+F9 on Mac). Shift(+Ctrl)+Enter then functions properly.
