[ERROR] Opera Unite authentication failed
Today I've tried opera unite for the first time, but I couldn't get it working.I always get:
PROXY_CONNECTION_ERROR_AUTH_FAILURE
My username is fairly simple, no special chars. I've also checked password of my opera account many times - it's correct and it doesn't contain any non-english chars.
I thought the password length could be the problem, but shorter password didn't help either.
What could be wrong?

Opera link will work, but unite is offering the authentication error.

YouTube has been fixed now. It was an error on YouTube, not Opera.
If you are using a beta version, that might be the reason. Unite is acctually working for me now, but I still have the error... I am however using a custom domain, not machine.user.operaunite.com.

Try to connect to the IP of your Unite machine. Something like:
http://192.168.1.2:8840
Change to the correct IP and port.
Unite works for me, locally and remote, but not when I connect via <machine>.<username>.operaunite.com

I get this on 3 of 4 accounts I and my friends use since yesterday...
I assume this is free feature but when there is that kind of problem tell us by mail with some informations because many users may change multiples setup for nothing on the computer that result as a waste of time....

I believe we will just have to wait until we hear something from Opera. Basing myself on past experience, they are likely working on a fix. =3

I joined the OperaUnite "OperaUnite Authentication Failed" Club Yesterday . I set OperaUnite to run my web site and test video streaming for a while. Figured that I would go somewhere for a while and leave it running for a while to see how it would react to steady usage. Everything was working right before I left even tested the video to be sure I could log on in IE and view the stream. Well came back a hour later and there it was... the dreaded pop-up dialog box with "THE" message "Authentication Failed!!!"
. I am running Opera 10.52 3363 I also tried to log on using 10.10 no luck.
I have tried every login trick I could think of with no luck, IP address, IP with port number, log in with and without Opera proxy server, nothing worked at all. Guess it is the proxy server because the pass is correct
the only thing that I have not tried is a new account yet . I did file a error report and also attached the Info Application file . I hope that they can come up with a solution soon ,I would love to get back to work on my web site. report # US-1991@bugs
This thing is moving through users like a virus . Just wondering how many of you are using the UJS manager .. could it be one of the scripts is messing with united ???

Well it does look like Opera people were having the problem. I could not even get to this forum. I am now able to login and authenticate. Hopefully everyone else in the thread can also login and be authenticated!
I just still can not see, on my Opera account Unite tab, any of my 7 Unite application servers icons. I know people are connecting and using my servers but it is not from my Unite Tab links. I have submitted a bug for that problem which is bug US-1994. This has been happening since I installed Build 3363 on a Windows XP from the prior build.

Seems like there has been some issues with the login servers. If this happens again I'll poke someone!
For those of you complaining about the issue just remember:
-it is free
-no other browser is doing what Opera is doing
The Opera Developers could never have created such a great product without the help, suggestions and support of the Volunteer Application Developers and users like you. That is why the Opera "Community" has always been dear to my heart. We are truly A "Community" , a ever growing Internet Family . Out to Prove to the World that the Small Guy can do truly Great Things!!..
The Only thing that The Opera Developers have ever ask of the Community is when you spot a bug or problem , Be professional leave the emotions at home. (although a occasional tear,or sad look is allowed in the Opera Chat room as long as you are on Topic) Use the Bug Reoprt Wizard and give them as much information as possible.(less the gun too your head before your system crashed stuff) For You Unite User install the Unite Info Application and run it , attach the report to your bug report when you are having connection problems.It will help Opera Team to resolve the issue They will get to it as quickly as possible....( Ever a Opera Geek has hormones and needs a weekend off with the little lady!!
)Comments about: Their Family tree, Their relationship to Animals, or dissertations about where you are going to shove Opera when you get to them, has never accelerated the Developmental Process. ( Although occasional nagging seems to help, Geeks tend to get lost in there work and need to be reminded of things they should look into before clocking out).
Other that that, The Opera Developers have always ask that you put your best professional foot forward to Show the World that the reason you are a" Opera Community Member," is because you are a cut above the general Internet Riff Raff ...With A Dream!
P.S. The "Opera Unite authentication failed" was fixed first thing Monday morning ,when they got back to work . We love and thank them for that! and hope that they had a good weekend.

Now, thats solved, but the MyOpera Unite page is still appearing as no service running,& there is a message as "No direct connection possible" in Unite.

could this be somehow isp related? at my girlfriends house, she could connect any time to any unite computer, but now she always gets this error, event when i can access all pages... she also has problems with connecting to proxy for her own account all the time. we have the same isp, same settings, tried with other computers on her connection as well and it will not go through...
but i am sure unite proxy is down for this weekend again.. opera needs to have more stable servers, even myopera community gets inaccessible more and more frequently these days...

still can't say what's wrong, it might be an isp issue (all computers used same provider, jet some of them were off and others on, totally random) but from time to time (mostly weekends) opera unite can't find proxy server, nor are we able to connect to any opera unite machines... i have send a bug report, it would be great to have some feedback from opera team so we can't find the problem and fix it.

just keep it up this way!!!edit: need to take that right back, messenger and fridge unresponsive again, can access fridge from other browsers or when reloaded a couple of times
