Changing my username... even though its valid
Hey all, I've fallen in love with Opera after poking around with it, but I have a little problem. I'd like to use the Unite Web Server to host a personal site to advertise myself with my resume, portfolio, etc. The problem is I've already selected a username, and I'd very much like to change it to my real name.Unfortunately, it was not obvious how to accomplish this. I noticed a thread about renaming accounts, but that was only for improperly named users, drat. If someone could help me out in the process of changing my username, or if that is not possible, how to create a new account (on My Opera and with Opera Unite), I'd appreciate it.
P.S. And as a security suggestion, it may be advisable to separate the username from the display name. Just a thought.

You can't change your username If it is valid. You must sign-up again as you aren't registered user. To register: first, Logout here then Sign up

Hi ah someone with the same fly in the opera ointment as me. I chose my username but it does not sync with my content of humour and surrealism although maybe because it does not go it does with being surreal:) Like you I tried to change it went through all settings about me edit etc and a big fat zero on changing username. Surely opera could allow for situations like ours? I dont want to set up another account when have posted blogs and photos to this one and then have to re do it all would take ages!

My old Opera account used my email address. I try to sign up for Unite and it asks if I want to change my user name. I sez, "Sure," not unreasonably expecting that OPERA ASSIGNED A USER NAME, which I REALLY do no appreciate having the word "hate" in it. And I can't find any way to select my own!
It appears that once your email address is assigned to a user, you are stuck.
I've been using Opera since 5.something and paid $$$ for real, unlimited support for years. Then they stopped the unlimited support and now am stuck with forums unless I want to pay out the wazoo....
If I have to use that assigned user name, forget Unite. Anyway, I certainly will.
