How to import IE bookmarks to iPhone

I imported my IE bookmarks to Opera 10.51. If I go to "Manage Bookmarks" I can see both the IE Favorites folder and the Opera Mini folder.

Now I would like to copy my IE folder to the Opera Mini folder, so that when Opera Mini on the iPhone syncs I get all my IE bookmarks in the iPhone.

But I cannot find a way to do that folder copy operation. In "Manage Bookmarks" I could create new folders in the Opera Mini folder to replicate my IE folders and then I can copy the IE bookmarks. But I have a large number of folders and bookmarks in my IE folder, and it would take me forever to recreate all those folders manually and then copy all the bookmarks.

Is there a fast way to achieve this?

You should be able to drag and drop the IE folder onto the the Opera Mini folder. Or is this not working?

No, if I try to drag and drop it shows the "not allowed" sign and refuses to drop the IE folder into the Opera Mini folder.

If a clean install doesn't work either, you could possibly try with Opera 10.10 or one of the snapshots at the desktop team blog.

I have one other solution, do it manually from bookmarks.adr file.

I warn you: make sure you back up the bookmarks.adr file before you do it and unless anyone else comes along with a better/more elegant way to do it, this will work if done properly. Make sure you have Opera closed when doing this.

-Find your bookmarks file location in About Opera
-Create a copy somewhere!!!
-Open the file with Notepad
-You should see something like this
-Cut from the "#Folder" from IE Favorites down to where it ends, the double "-"
-Paste that into the Opera Mini folder section
-Delete the two extra "-" that will be at the end of the Opera Mini section, so there is only two
-Save the file
-If done right, it will work.

Hopefully that makes since and works for you.

Thank you for your help. I tried a couple of times and it did not work. Evidently I did something incorrectly.

In any case, I am really looking for some more direct way to sync my IE bookmarks with Opera on my iPhone.

Until there is a way as easy as the Safari sync, there is no reason for me to switch to Opera. It is kind of ironic since Opera has always been keen on easy bookmarks sync via the Opera Link feature.
