Hi,

I'm also unable to get this version of Opera to even launch. I've had nothing but crashes on startup each time. With the previous beta I was at least able to launch the app.

Any ideas what we should do?

Thanks,
Marco

Have you tried doing a clean install? Delete ~/Library/Application Support/Opera 1050 and ~/Library/Preferences/Opera 1050.

If that doesn't work, you may want to try using the release candidate from the desktop team blog:
Be warned: It will use your default Opera installation preferences!

I don't know what else you can do, but you should submit the crash reports and keep trying the new releases on the desktop team blog. Hopefully whatever is causing the crash will be fixed.

Also, just so I know everything has been covered, did you delete/backup the stable Opera preference files when trying the release candidate and not the 1050 ones?

Is anything about Opera posted to Console.app when it crashes?

Does the problem reproduce from the system’s Guest account?

As it doesn’t happen in your system’s Guest account, then it must be happening in your normal account because of a preference you have set or a running third-party background application. Please try to disable system helpers (background programs) one by one, and see if you can’t identify which one is causing problems.

I have sent all the crash reports to Opera

We have a new development snapshot which should fix most of the problems users have had with startup crashers.
http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2010/05/05/startup-crashes-be-gone

1. Backup your computer (for example using Time Machine)
2. Download the snapshot and run it
3. If it works properly, try right-clicking Opera and choose Show Package Contents
4. Go to Contents/Resources/ and delete the file PrefsSuffix
5. Run it again (this will upgrade your install, bringing back bookmarks and settings)

Please report back if any of your are still encountering problems.

The crashes I get are not at start up (on an Admin account) I get them on web pages with similar content)
