Is Opera getting worse ?
Is it just me or it Opera getting worse and worse ?When i started using Opera it was nice and clean.
But i a got update messages. I dont want this message. If i want a newer version i will find it.
When i upgrade i cant se the videos on youtube. thanks alot.
then when i type my usernavn and password in a form clic submit button... Oh no a popup thing at the top of the page comes and pushes the website down. Just like internet explorer.
In Opera 10.51 the menu at the top has become a strange menu and when i switc back to the normal menus the font looks strange...
I dont want this.... i just want to normal menus.
Before if i had 5 tabs open i could press 4 times on the X on the second tab til close the 4 rightmost tabs quickly.
But now the tabs are animated and i have to wait between each click to close the next.
When a webpage freezes or is slow for some reson i cant switch to another tab like i could in the older version.... now all the tabs frezze if one freezes.
Sometimes when i close opera i get a message if i like to clean something up.... i dont want all these questions. if i want to clean the cache or what ever i will do it myself...
I dont hope Opera will continue going the wrong way with lots of popups and questions.

It is asking if you want Opera to say your password. This is also the behavior in Chrome.

The font is the same as it was in 10.10.

The majority of people do not want to check for a new version manually every month.

These three things provide a simpler and sleek interface for the average user. From what I have heard from many is, they love those things.

There are less pop-ups than there were before.

Most people do not know how to navigate around and take care of themselves. Besides, the only message that I know of that asks if something should be cleaned up is when M2 (Opera's mail client) asks to clean up something. For me, this message is extremely rare.

Restoring the Default Menus This puts the default menus on the button — you can have the menu bar, of course, if you prefer, but then you lose some vertical space.

Indexing the mail database has been around for a long time — its not new to Opera 10.51.
Mail Database Consistency Check Time Mine is set to 1271371086 (40.3 years) — the default is 0
There is also the "Confirm Exit" option in Preferences, Browser.

Position it at the bottom in the Customize, Appearance dialogue. Then turn it off. Do the same with the Find in page toolbar.

In continuation...
Update Messages:
Tools (or "Settings")
- Preferences
-- Advanced
--- Security
Change the "Auto-Update" setting (not sure why its there and not under "Programs" though)
Password manager:
So what? It should only happen once... until you uninstall/reinstall, or otherwise delete your password data, if it bothers you that much, disable it:
Tools (or "Settings")
- Preferences
-- Forms
Uncheck "Enable Password manager"
See which one is more annoying... typing it in every time, or a toolbar that shows once.
Tab Closing:
That's the same thing I do... I just changed my behavior to compensate... click like 12 times rapidly... all 4 will close... or you can mouse-wheel click, which is slightly quicker and behaves a bit more like it "used to".
"When a webpage freezes":
That depends on the type of freeze...
Database Check:
It happens like every 30 days or something, assuming that the value is in ticks, mine won't do it again for another 14 days (1269895093 / 1000 / 60 / 60 / 24).
In conclusion, you should familiarize yourself with the Preferences dialog, and opera:config... I know It's "so much work"... but the thing is, much like the password manager... you only need to go through it once.
Edit: Is there a reliable (asking before searching) definition of the "Database Check" value?... because treating it as ticks, makes sense, but also treating it as Unix time makes sense if it goes by "last check time", because it would be "Mon, 29 Mar 2010 20:38:13 GMT" which seems about right as well.

Oh, on Windows 7 it is fine. Tamil, could you file it?
Opera is not getting worse. 10.5x is a MASSIVE upgrade over 10.10. Due to the amount of stuff that changed, a few bits and bobs are not as good as they used to be, however 10.51 fixed many of those, and 10.52 fixes many more. I would expect a 10.53 too.
That said, I am more than happy with 10.5x release. The massive amount of things that have improved vastly outweigh the small number of quirks and annoyances that are slowly getting fixed.
I just love seeing one person have a specific problem, then the next 100 people don't have that problem, yet that person still thinks it's totally the browsers fault.
I've used every upgrade from 9.64 until now and haven't had any problems with passwords, sites not loading, or anything really.
Bash away all ya want. Until there's actually a valid gripe, no one will really waste their time. There were so many people complaining that went from 10.5 to 10.51 saying how everything changed and nothing worked, fonts were different. I never saw any of this. It looked the same, acted the same, and works just fine.
Also, unless you first of all completely uninstall and remove every single trace of Opera(or any program really) before upgrading, then there should be no complaining. That is really the only way to start with a clean install. If you install over the top, and there are problems after that.....well.....try it. You might be surprised once it's done the right way.
It's the same reason I won't ever get the "Upgrade" versions of Windows. Clean install is alway better and minimizes the chance of any issues.
