Opera Mini beta 5 doesn't work on HTC Hero

Consistently fails to load pages with network error messages (when I have an excellent wi-fi connection and the Android browser loads the same pages fine). I'm extremely disappointed as all the hype about Opera says it's good and thanks to the pre-compression it should be fast. Anyone have any feedback about this version on the same platform? Need to be convinced to bother trying any further with this

Perhaps it'sthe server that is too busy? I've experienced similar problems in many browsers rendered by server

127.1.1.1...is that an internal intranet address?

The way Opera mini works, it cannot be used to access internal sites. It has to be an internet accessible site. i.e. a site that I can access from another country, another terminal.

I think it was just an example.

I have been using Opera Mini 5b on a HTC Hero with stock rom since it was released without any major problems (server issues excluded) although I don't use wifi much.

Perhaps OM is a bit too picky about delayed packages due to the encryption?

I do hope it is an example....way too many people do not understand how Opera Mini works, and assume it works like any other browser. :
