Bookmarks problem

Hi,

I'm in a big trouble, because all my bookmarks have disappeared. I did not do anything. I was just surfing than wanted to add a bookmark to my browser, and there was not any in the list. I had hundrends of bookmarks. I use Version 10.51 Build 3315. I have been using Opera since 2003 but this has never happened.

What shall I do?

I can't help, but I'm in the same situation. Hundreds of bookmarks collected over the years. All gone. Same build of Opera on Windows 7. It would seem there may be a serious bug about.

A few suggestions to help:

1) Restore your bookmarks.adr file from a backup if you have one (yes, I backup regularly; no, Windows doesn't seem to have copied a recent bookmarks.adr - I found an old Ghost image that had an outdated copy, but at least it helped).

2) Use Tools->History and re-bookmark your recent sites. This only helps with the recently visited sites, not those 'occasional' links stored just in case...

You might consider going back to a pre-10.5x version.

I had a problem bookmarking all open pages w/ 10.51 and reinstalled v. 10.00 over it (as an upgrade) without a hitch, which resolved my problem and (surprisingly) retained my configuration.

I can't say that this will make your lost bookmarks appear, but versions 10.5x do have a bookmarking problem.

I've lost a selection of bookmarks - not all of them by a long chalk, but some of my bookmark folders seem to be empty when before they had many entries.

Here's the weird thing - all the bookmarks I've lost seem to still be available if I search for them using the bookmarks panel, and if I try to reinstate them in their original folders, they still don't appear. In fact I don't seem to be able to make a visible bookmark of anything that was previously marked. My guess is that the bookmarks are still there but they are failing to display.

HTH someone.

The lost bookmarks problem appears to be a consequence of Opera taking on a nanny function and silently removing what it considers to be redundant duplicate bookmarks. See this thread: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=434311

Well, I have also lost my bookmarks today, but not all of them.

First 2 folders were spared, third has one subfolder (but both of them are empty). I have checked manually the "bookmarks.adr" file, and it possesses only those bookmars, that I have mentioned above (which means, that they aren't invisible or something).
I searched for any .adr files on my disc, hoping that Opera might be making some copies, but there weren't any. Last copy, that I have taken myself, is from January, which is better than nothing, but far away from satisfying. Also, I wasn't able to restore previous version with "Undelete Plus" - I guess it was overwritten.

Thinking back, yesterday my Opera crashed (which happens from time to time) and displayed a strange message, something like: "Bookmarks file could not be found". I ignored it, because I thought that it might be a temporary problem and haven't checked later, whether everything was fine.

Edit: Seconds after posting this, it crashed again o
