Opera 10.51 Review / Suggestions.
Version 10.51
Build 3315
Platform Win32
System Windows NT 6.1
XHTML+Voice Plug-in not loaded
Hi,
I've been an Opera user for a long time. I do programming myself aswell.
I really enjoyed doing a semi decent review of the new version of Opera. I am very impressed. The new user interface is well layed out, aswell as maximize the browser window space, which is a must. Well done. I really enjoy the speed improvements as promoted during the beta phase. I really enjoy the red Opera omni button at the left.
Please consider the following:
1. Right clicking the "plus button" is very usefull. Please consider adding to the above part, New Window and New Private Window. Please also consider making sessions (which I feel is very usefull) accessible with the below Customize part of right clicking the plus button.
2. Please consider making it possible to select a few tabs (at least three) by shift or cntrl left clicking and then use the right click on the tabs, arrange and tile vertically to only tile those tabs. Very usefull for page / product comparisons.
3. Shift left clicking behavior by deleting the tab can be dangerous. I lost this complete message before sending by doing that, please reconsider this behaviour. Shift left click is normally use for multiple selection...
4. Please have a look at window 7's explorer behaviour by pressing F10 (the old DOS button for menus). Please consider adding this for opera for backward compatibility issues. Pressing F10 add or remove the menu bar, and it gets remember by registry or ini-file flags for next time's use. (as the omni button's "show Menu Bar " option does) Maybe keep the omni button, just add the menu bar above the tabs next to the omni button, so that it does not use more space, or any behaviour you might feel usefull in your window layout phylosofy.
5. I have personilised my window by have the "find in page" box between the "url / omni box" and "search engine box". Please consider this as a default layout.
6. Other personalised layout changes I've done was including print / print-preview and bookmark buttons to the right bottom corner menu items. The bookmark button is missing by default. Please consider this arrangement. The print preview button needs a different icon from the print button!
7. Please consider looking at how ms office application react when reducing the opera window's size to a very small vertical size, they remove the menus and tabs, this can be usefull, if it can be done legally and copyrights issues.
8. Shift left click a tab is dangerous, I lost this message when nearly completed typing it.
9. Please improve the the vertical alignment of multiple tabs (at least three, very good for product/page comparisons) by being able to use cntrl of shit left click to select the tabs and then right click on one, arrange and tile vertically.
10. In windows 7 the opera button in the windows taskbar (quick buttons) shows multiple windows when only one window is open. Please have a look at this.
11. The search function (Cntrl+F or F3) behaviour I find a little frustrating. The first time around it works fine, but the second time it just search for the previous search string rather that showing you the search bar before searching again. I would keep the old search string in the search box, but show the bar again, else you just keep on searching for the same thing again. Even on a different tab. It is very usefull to be able to keep on pressing F3 to search next, but the first time in a series I will show the search box initially.
As mentioned above I am really impressed with the new browser. I have only mentioned a few of the enhancements I find very usefull.
Great job! Keep it up.

Superneospider
These multiple wish threads often get closed, and never seem to lead anywhere. Its better to focus on one wish per thread.
3 and 8 are the same. Thats the first time I tried it — yet another way to close a tab.
2 could be done by having an option to tile pinned tabs.
Tile A button can be useful if you don't open loads of tabs. Minimize the tabs you don't wish to tile.
1. New Drag this link to the floating page toolbar next to the new tab icon. Click to open a new tab; hold for a new private tab. Replace the default icon if you like this better. I think this would be a useful new default icon.
10. This comes up regularly: Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnails change the default setting if you don't like it.
Changing defaults for all users is rarely a good idea — we get no end of complaints just because something changed from the previous version. Opera is easy to customise, and very versatile. There needs to be a very strong case for changing any default settings — every single user has a different idea of what is useful.
I suggested getting rid of the Inspect Element item (which is new to 10.5x), and there are quite a few users who oppose the idea.

Hi Pesala, Sadburai,
thank you so much for your replies.
After reading your reply on point one, I started learning how to add custom buttons.
This one will do it for me, for now:
<a href="opera:/button/New%20Page%20+%20Show%20popup%20menu,%20%22Browser%20file%20menu%22,%20,%20,%20%22File%22" target="_blank">Plus Button</a>
I have removed the standard button.
